FRN Stretch Pics!

#1

Post by WireEdge Roger »

Simply phenominal knives! Been using the plain edge one all morning. Broke down some cardboard boxes and prepared some chicken for burritos :D

Three things I noticed right away- 1) 14mm Spydie Hole 2) no traction grooves molded in the FRN on the spine up by the pivot 3) bigger lanyard hole

The handle and choil are wonderful. Couldn't be a better match to my size of hand.

I took some quick pics with two well known knives, the Endura and Delica. Just for reference it's a ZDP Endura with Krein Regrind and a Foliage Green Delica with Krein Regrind. Two of my favs.

Simply beautiful.

Looks great!
The SS Stretch is a bit thinner than the CF, the FRN looks a bit thicker than both.

Will pick one down the road.

Not sure if it will displace the CF one in my pocket though...... :D

I just now compared it to the thickness of an Endura, identical. Thicker than the Delica though. And yes, the CF/ZDP variant is stellar :D pretty hard to beat that one!

Those are good looking knives! Prob the first Combo Edge I have ever liked and that says alot about the knife design :D

It's awesome to have some 3.5" lightweight blades available from Spyderco. For a while I was tempted to pick up a full-size Grip (as a big/light EDC) to give my Delica some time off...not anymore!

Yes, it's about 1/8" thicker than the CF version. Bit thicker in the pocket, but more hand filling when cutting.

Knock it off, guys! I'm trying to hold out for the FRN/ZDP version and you aren't helping me one bit.

Dhooooo! I want one. ;)
I think I like VG10 better than ZDP, easier to sharpen.

Nice pics, thanks! And I was going to ask for a comparison shot with the Endura and the Stretch FRN and you saved me the trouble of having to ask :)

I think the FRN Stretch is going to prove to be a home run, and a friend of mine is planning to make it his first Spyderco. I'm going to wait for the ZDP one; believe it or not, the non-black color is just as appealing to me as the super steel.

Agreed on the color. In the pics the lighter blue looks awesome.

I love the coloring on my D4 Wave which is a darker blue (it seems) so another shade will be really fun in the collection (along with a Yellow Spyderhawk).

It's like a bag of very sharp Skittles =)

The frn stretch is looking like a great EDC blade and is next on my list.

Does anyone have a weight on this bad boy? I have checked everywhere to no avail.

Thanks
