When is factory seconds sale?
When is factory seconds sale?
There were posts about this sale last December. Is it once a year?
There are several models that I have an interest in, but which do not fit my large hands properly. I'd like to get cheap factory seconds of these models so I can try modifying the handles. I don't feel confident enough to do this with the full priced models until I have success with a cheaper version.
If anyone is willing to represent me at the sale, please email or PM me. I'll provide the money up front.

For us "newbies" how will we find out when this sale has come? Is there an email list or do you post it on the site/forum?

Taz, you do realize what June 19th is? :DTazKristi wrote:Typically it is annual, we don't have anything scheduled for this year yet. It will likely be closer to the holidays.

Well, unless they change something this year, it really only matters to those within an easy drive of Golden. Up till now it's been strictly a one day "yard sale", you've had to visit Spyderco on the day of the sale.DrBlade wrote:For us "newbies" how will we find out when this sale has come? or send someone that is going a pile of cash to get you a handful of goodies

Why do people worry more if you argue with your voices than if you just talk with them? What about if you lose those arguements?

Isnt that what I already do.
At the next sale I plan to purchase as much as I can afford to, and just sell them back to you folks that cant make it for the same price. I have in the past picked up knives for other folks, but it gets kinda difficult to keep track of the list for everyone. So I'll just get all the cool stuff I can and then spread the joy.

You know you are going to be bombarded by forumites after that! I may have to start saving now if you're going to be a super shopper this year. :D
Take care,

Any chance of allowing forum members first crack at the goods online? Or have a system where some are allotted for the forum members. I think that would a great way of rewarding the Spyderco fans.

Unfortunately that is impractical. Aside from the normal expense of listing on line, processing orders and shipping, these are 2nds. It would be very time consuming to try to describe imperfections and there would inevitably be unhappy buyers.Free Radical wrote:Any chance of allowing forum members first crack at the goods online? I like Tricord's idea; very generous of him.
I've missed it the last couple of years and vow to be there this year when they announce their 'yard sale' :D
got to put some holiday money aside for some Spydies. I also like Tricod's idea, there are so many out there that are less fortunate than we that live close to to the SFO, it only makes since to share the love

Just to clarify before my inbox, or message box overflows when the sale is announced. I would be glad to get stuff and sell it. However that is assuming, they have what you want, I can find what you want, what you want isn’t already snagged by someone else. etc... for those who know me... I dont answer pms very well, or emails. In fact Im terrible at it. That aside. What I will most likely do is figure out how much money I have to spend (some folks have already offered to loan money for this) and spend that much. I'll get all the cool stuff I can. I'll search as long as I can to find the ones with the least flaws, or flaws that I find acceptable. IE the best ones. If I only find enough good stuff to spend half of my budget, then thats what will be offered to you. If I easily find 30 Mini Manix that are perfect and I cant figure out what the problem is that made them a second is... I get a few, not all 30. I'll basic go thru the piles of knives and try to find what I think you will like best. I could spend an hour searching for "one" persons ZPD-189 Caly. But the rest of yall would suffer for it.
So... what will happen is this... I get what I think is cool, and is the best I can find. Then I'll offer that to you. First come first serve basis.
I'll do my best to find what you want... but the fact is I wont. So feel free to email me, or pm me. I'll read it, but its still just gonna be a first come first serve basis on that day.
I'll also note. I'll prob add a small % to the cost of the knife, not to make money, but to account for little things, like paper that I print shipping labels on, ink, the coffee i'll have to drink to be first in line (ie being at spyderco at 2am ) you get the idea, But I will sell them as close to what they cost me in order to not lose money.
Maybe those other Colorado folks can help me when the time comes

Don't listen to Brad. What he'll really do is scoop up everything he can get his hands on, and keep it for himself!
Joking aside, for those of us lucky enough to get to go to this sale, usually the last thing we want to be doing is checking off lists and figuring out what we need to snag. It's not so disorganized as a "rush in and grab stuff", but there are a lot of tables and A LOT of seconds to look over.
I went through about 80 knives last year, looking them over top to bottom; opening and closing them; inspecting for nicks, scratches, pitting, uneven anything; and trying to determine what exactly was wrong with each one.
I left with 5 total knives, and I think I got pretty lucky. When you think about grabbing what you can to resell, there are going to be problems. Someone won't be satisfied with the fit and finish, or the clip, or whatever. Then they won't pay, and Brad will be up to his ears in complaints.
I don't mean to rain on the parade, but I do want to urge people to think twice before buying seconds from someone they don't know.
Brad is a great guy, very trustworthy, but he won't be the only one selling seconds. So be careful if you plan on buying a second.

What? Your calendar does not list the Tasmanian Devil's Birthday as a holiday? You probably missed Donald Duck Day on the 9th too! :p :D Of course some of us think the REAL significance of the 19th is that it's Garfield Day (the cat, not the President best remembered for getting shot), but I figured the other might be more significant to our Forum Goddess. :Dduff72 wrote:What is the 19th-you cant just put that out there like that with no follow up
