Am I the only one that likes NGK's old website better?

I liked how everything was listed in a square pattern with pictures. Now everything is in a line and you have to scroll down pretty far. I realize it may not be finished yet but I don't like it.

It kinda sucks. I will say that I think that Knifeworks.com has improved their site and it looks real nice.

Hmm........

David,

I agree 100%. I do not care for the new site. The old one felt much "homier," if you will; the new one does not seem as inviting. In other words, I felt the old site was as friendly as the NGK people themselves, and was a pleasure just to browse around on, but the new one...not so much.

Maybe we're all old, crotchety people who fear change. ;) At any rate, I really prefer the old NGK site.

I don't have a problem with it? It just feels more refined to me. Have they started using cookies yet? I did get sort of tired of typing all my info into the login information boxes every time. (I have a long email address, I'm not lazy.)

edit: AND they made it so that hitting the enter/return key triggered a search. It always took me a few tries to remember that. It just feels less "clunky" to me now.

They finally fixed the search function.... I'm using firefox so I don't know if anyone else had a proble with the old search function where you can't start the search by pressing enter and had to click or tab over to the search button for it to get going. But yeah the old color scheme did feel warmer.

I hope it works for them.
For me I liked checking their Whats New section. Loved that list too for checking out certain knifes obsessively. Liked seeing their number of remaining stock.

Now they have live feeds for their Whats New section but no up-dates so far.

Makes me think they're not buying new stock.

Yes, I agree with David, the old format was much easier to deal with, not to mention that I detest a blue motif on web pages. Too depressing.

With the exception of the search function, I miss the old website myself. I was pondering this point two days ago when I showed a co-worker the site. He's taken quite and interest in getting another good knife.

Perhaps it is a bit that we were all used to the old site...nah, the old one really was better. :D

I hated the search glitch too. While I don't love the new site, I think that fix alone made it an improvement.

Yep, that's what I was talking about. Overall, I think i like it.
I do think they need to find a different way to show the individual knives though. The page gets too long. Maybe two columns?

What is NGK, google tells me they sell spark plugs. Somehow I don't think that is right.

For some things, it's as good or better, the navigation is actually simpler. But for brands like Spyderco where they stock hundreds of items, it's even more annoying than the older version. Only blessing is the improved search function. Mutli word searches actually work, so putting in Spyderco Military limits the result set to just the Milie and Para rather than returning all Spydercos plus everthing else with Military in the name. And, as KSDbass pointed out, you can now hit enter to initiate the search rather than having to click on the little button. Problem comes in when someone knows the brand and has a pretty good idea of what it looks like, but doesn't know the model name.

Yeah I like the new search function and on the old site I got used to the fact that I had to hit the little circle arrow to search instead of hit enter. Right now what I don't like is that everything is in a vertical list. I liked the square layout better where they had like 3 or 4 knives in every row.

Hopefully they are still working on it since the "What's New" shows only like 3 items. Plus I find they seem to have a LOT out of stock right now.

I do wish they'd sort out the old models somehow so you don't have to sift through out of stock disco'd items to find what you want. A sort function of some sort would be nice, even if it was just alphabetical.

Same problem with Opera, works now.

They seem to fixed the actual search function too, it used to be if you put in more than one word the result would return pretty much all the knives they carry in no particular order, now it puts more relevent result on top.

I agree 100%. The search function doesn't work very well. If you put in "Para", you get everything from Benchmade thru Zero Tolerance!!
