Edge of the Ocean
Edge of the Ocean
Hey All,
Here is a snapshot of my Salt 1 taking a break from work along the shore.
Each year I photograph this area of shore line and monitor areas of erosion and areas where the beach and dunes are building. With each storm the sands shift and the landscape changes. Happy to see that much of the beach grass planted over the last few years has held strong without too much erosion. With doing this kind of work I always encounter nets and lines washed up on the beach and will cut it free for disposal.
Nothin' better than using a Salt on the Edge of the Salt.

Very Cool! Wish I had a good reason for my salt :)

Been out of the loop the past few days.
The picture was taken on Cape Cod, on the Bay side. It was a film shot that that I quickly scanned (6x7 120Mmm film). Thanks for the kind comments, I hope to post some more images soon. That was my first picture post and was
just seeing how it would look. Is 100 kb the maxsize? Atttached size was 97.0kb+/-, would love to post larger.
Best,

great picture... Post it bigger. Not sure what the max size is but in the photo gallery most users post far larger images.

Very cool pic, and very cool story!!! I'll add to the pics of Salts in their environment... I just got back from Hawaii, and I was accompanied by my trusty Salt 1. I t did everything from cutting up pineapples to snorkeling, and no rust!!!!! Here is a pic from snorkeling on the Big Island:

Anyone know how the salt is as a fillet knife? I have rusted through so many sub-standard fillet knives on the water I've lost count. It might be a little small for some of the work I do but for minor sample work like taking scales or otoliths it would probably be great. Maybe I should mention it to our gear guy!
McBain: what part of Hawaii were you snorkeling in? I haven't had the opportunity to go there yet and would love some input.

The bigger Pacific Salt or Aqua Salt may be a better fillet choice. Sampling scales and otoliths, sounds like research work of some sort?Spydergirl wrote:Anyone know how the salt is as a fillet knife? Yup, and it kinda does look like I might have superimposed two pictures, or taken it in front of an aquarium...lol... but I swear it was taken underwater!!!
Spydergirl: That was on the Big Island of Hawaii, North of the Kailua-Kona area. There are LOTS of beach access all along this side, and the waves/ currents weren't that bad either.
We should start a "Salts in action/ environment" thread in the pic forum... if there isn't one already !!!
