What do you cut with your ZDP?
This is a question for all those who use ZDP-189 on a regular basis, what do you cut with it. With it being such a different kind of steel im nervious to cut certian things and use it in different environments so if anyone can share their thoughts please let me know.

I too have cut everything with mine. Mostly paper, string, plastic. On occasions fruit and vegies. The worst thing I cut was on my ZDP Lum's first outing..... banana tree branches. The sap dribbled all over the blade... I pocketed the knife and forgot about it for a couple of days. It came out looking stained/ rusted. Took some polishing to get most of the stains out. Still very fine stains.
I don't hesitate in cutting anything with it if the blade shape and length are right for the task. I'm just more aware of having to keep this blade cleaner than others I have, just because of its apparent tendency to want to stain itself :p

Have used my ZDP Stretch II at least occasionally for pretty much everything mentioned so far. Exceptions would be banana tree branches and perhaps leather. It has done a lot of food prep, often with nothing more than a quick rinse under the tap afterward. No corrosion problems at all, just some dark grey patina type staining which just adds a bit of character.

Cardboard, tape, and plastic packing straps. After months of use, I've yet to sharpen it, and have 2 small chips. The tip is not as sharp, but the serrations are still sharp. Clip is scuffed clean (and some of the patient rooms have marks on the walls :D ) around the edges. All in all my ZDP-189 Delica has been a great work edc. I will probably send it to Spyderco to be resharpened when I dull it.

I've used my ZDP Endura for everything from carpet (100 yards in one sitting), to plastic straps, to cardboard (about 100 yards in the same sitting as the carpet), to string and such. Just don't pry with it. I've slightly chipped the tip (prior to the Tom Krein treatment, no less) with fairly light prying.
God Bless Texas!
