ENDURA vs DELICA

#1

Just wondering which model y'all prefer for EDC, the ENDURA or the DELICA! What is the reason for your choice? Plain edge or combo edge? thank you in advance, knifedude

If blade length laws and sheeple friendliness are not concerns, I'd go with an Endura. I find the larger blade useful for a wider variety of tasks.

As far as edge type; if you like to make precise clean cuts, PE is for you. If you're more quick 'n' dirty, get the job done, then go SE. SE is also good if you cut tough, fibrous materials regularly.

I'm not a big fan of CE, but the Endura blade is long enough that you get a useful amount of both edge types; unlike the CE Delica.

For EDC, I prefer knives in the Delica size range. It's enough knife without taking up too much room. I like plain edge and fully serrated. Combo edges don't do much for me.
Ask me where I got my awesome SUPERHAWK!

More like Mid-Cal now

I prefer the Endura, it just seems to fit my hand better, but I cant really knock the Delica.

I prefer PE over CE, though like Tom (catamount) stated, if you're going to go CE get the Endura. Personally, I like bigger knives, so I'd pick the Endura as long as the length of the blade isn't a legal issue where you live. With that said, you'll find many forum members here who have been well served by the Delica and the PE Delica is usually one of the most recommended folders to someone looking for a first Spyderco. As a matter of fact the Delica was my first Spyderco and I carried it for a number of years and it served me well. It's really going to boil down to a matter of personal choice, but you really can't go wrong with either.

Endura. Perfect fit for me. I like the Plain edge that can be re-sharpened over & over again.

If you have particularly big hands the Endura may suit you better.

You have to try them both and see...it's almost like asking, what do you like better, medium or large? As others have said, hand size is a factor...also what you will be using it for...my Delica and Enduras are all PE...not to say I don't also own SE knives.

Combo edge doesn't appeal to me, but a lot of people seem to like it. I would rather carry one PE and one SE together than one combo edged knife, but that's just my personal preference.

The Endura for me. It was my first Spydie in SE(@16 yrs. ago) and I still carry THAT knife daily. Used to be all in for SE. Not knocking that but over the last few years I have migrated toward PE. I do have several CE blades that get pocket time. I have also come to appreciate the Delica although I avoided it for a long time, not sure why. Best bet is to get one of each(for starters :D ).

I already have an Endura4 and a gen 1 Delica (both plain edge). I have always prefered plain edge to serrated edge but I thought I would find out what your opions were on the subject. Just curious what states would the Endura be illeagal in due to length? THANKS!!!!!

I prefer the Delica for EDC due to the size of the folder alone. However as already mentioned the length of the Endura's cutting edge is much better for slicing things with.

If I know I am going to be cutting fruits/ sandwiches etc like when on a picnic, I will usually pack my Military or Endura as well as my Delica carry.

I prefer PE blades as it satisfies most of my cutting needs. But I usually have my small SE Ladybug just in case I need it. Sometimes a complementary SE Delica follows me too.... they can't stay away from me :D :p

That will vary by state, and within each city or town as well, as they will have ordinances that may be stricter or less strict than state law.

In addition to that, each LEO will have his own interpretation or understanding of legal length...not to mention the effect that your demeanor, mode of dress, etc., will have on said LEO's judgement call on the blade length issue...YMMV.

i prefer the Delica, its the prefect size for my hand and also perfect for my pocket, not too big not too small.

I also prefer the combo edge too, it looks cool & has the best of both worlds.

For me it's the Delica :)

I have all generations and despite my big mitt the Generation 1 Delica fits my hand the most comfortably; a nice secure 3 3/4 finger grip ;)

Delica/PE for me, though I also carry a UKPK, small SAK and a Dragonfly most days. I work in an office/high tech in my most current position, with no PC maintenance stuff, so a small PE is more than adequate. I can "get by" with a Delica size in CE, but I'm not a big fan of CE's generally. As mentioned, a CE in an Endura size is pretty usable. Evenings/Weekends, though..... :D

I like both about the same. The Delica fits my hand better but I like the longer blade on the Endura. So it's a toss up for me. :)

I carry a ZDP Endura at work. Honestly, a Delica would be just as good (maybe better). As much as I kike big knives, I find that the Endura can, occasionally, feel uncomfortable in the pocket ( but I love it and carry it anyway).

The Delica is thinner in both blade and total thickness. I haven't been able to test my Endura out yet to see how the thickness affects cutting ability, though.

My first Spyderco was a Delica 3 SE. Next was an Endura 3 PE. Then came a Delica 4 PE. Just recently I nabbed an Endura 4 CE. I rotate these for EDC according to what I expect to cut on a given day, or "just because." Some I use more than others, but each fills a niche, and I find it impossible to choose which is "best." Guess I'm just a happy idiot. :)

Same here. I carry each about equal amounts of time and sometimes both together. :)
