I don't remember the whole story, but I know the designer for Blade-Tech used to be employed by spyderco or maybe he just collaborated with spyderco. His name was Tim Wergner. If you take a look at the Spyderco Mouse, you will notice all the similarities to the Blade-Tech Mouse (basically the same design, he has the rights to that design.)
I bought a Mouse Lite from them once, and I rather liked it. Small blade with a big belly and a flat grind is about a perfect combo for me. The only problem was that the handle didn't seem very secure to me, it was only a two finger handle, though it did feel comfy in those two fingers. The construction was sub spyderco when it came to fit and finish, but I have heard that the CF and the G10 handled ones are a lot better.
I would reccomend them, they have the familiar spyderco feel, but something different for a little variety :D

No intended offence to the designer of the Talon but I gotta wonder who the target consumer is.
Clearly a Emerson type opener but... a tip down carry. Hmm... Mmkay then.

I honestly can't even see this thing being any form of comfortable in the hand either...
I really don't get it.

Forgive me Sal for I have sinned. :o
I'm awaiting a
Blade-Tech Ganyana Lite.
I just fancied a relatively cheap hunter along similar lines to my Ocelot that wouldn't have me in tatters if I lose it. :o
:D (I also fancy a Mouse Lite in orange too) It's the first non :spyder: that I've bought in quite a while.

You would see Blade-Techs if you are browsing Spyderco on the 'bay as someone has tucked the name Spyderco in their auction title. It's marketing; no offense intended to the seller who is just doing smart business. I have bought from him myself. My girlfriend carries a Mouse lite I gave her, & I have a green one on the way. The colored ones are mostly FRN by the way. Nice little knife that was once a Spyderco produced design. Not a bad little knife for the price, although I still prefer a D'fly. They also recently switched from 440c to AUS-8m making them more attractive to me.RIOT wrote:Ive been Frequenting ebay alot latley and have noticed alot of "Blade-Tech" knives have been popping up when im searching for Spydercos.

Riot, I have the S30V MLEK, and Rijjback models. The MLEK is a decent knife, the more expensive Rijjback is their top of the line folder, and a very nice knife at that. The American made products have the better steels like S30V, the "lite" models look almost identical, have 440C, and are made in Taiwan.
The S30V, Carbon fibre Mouse knives are out of production for some reason, the Lite models in 440C are still available.
Of all blade tech models an S30V mouse in carbon fibre, or G10, and the Rijjback in S30V, with Ti framelock (outer G10 liners over what amounts to a inner frame lock, I forget the actual name of that lock style) are the best knives they make and worth adding to any collection. Very solid knives.
It's been said by a company employee that they've never yet had a Rijjback returned with a broken blade yet. Joe

Purple Mouse Lite
I purchased a Mouse Lite from the seller mentioned. I bought it because it was purple. Felt like I needed a purple to go with my pink Spydies. The handles are FRN rather than G10. Fit finish and lock up is good. I have purchased many knives from this seller and can say that he has always been super to work with.
Recently bought a green mouse. Bought it since I could never find the original :spyder: mouse. Decent for the price, especially since they've upgraded to AUS8 from 440C. Opening is a little tight, but I'm sure this will improve over time. I also like the Flat grind. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it.

A little clarification is needed:
It's not a wave as the clip can only be positioned tip down...so it only functions as an opening device...no flame war here guys
(this is from Bladetech)Sorry for the confusion...We made a limited 200pc batch here in the US that had tip-up/tip-down clip position 2yrs ago. Looks like we used that picture for the website. Thanks for catching that, I'll get it changed. The next batch we discussed (with Ernie) that they would not be able to be used as a wave-type knife, and only have one clip position. The "horn" is designed to be used as a one-hand opener as well as a blade-catcher for self defense.

Funny that someone brings up blade-tech. I was just there earlier today since I live about a 20 minute drive from them. They are a great company when it comes to holsters and things like that. However, I have yet to use their knives, but I'm sure they are pretty high quality stuff.

The knives in that picture look virtually unuseable for real work. To each his own but I even dislike jimping on the knives I use at work. The hump/jimping hangs up when I am stripping shrink wrap off pallets. The hump and top jimping are good but the kick and edge side jimping can snag in stretch wrap.
To each his own use and tastes.

Not really all that slick
