Tenacious? BAH!!!

#1

Post by DAYWALKER »

Aloha ALL,

Kinda late for the party on this one, but prior to owning one while in lurk mode, I read how fabulous the Tenacious was. BAH! PFfFFFFffffffTTtTTTTT...yeah, right.

I recently became the owner of a PE Tenacious thanks to the good graces of my Knifebro The Deacon. I even kept the clip for true left hand draw to honor him while I tested this supposed "fabulous" Tenacious.

I can say that all the "good stuff" I read about this Spyderco Tenacious was pretty far from the truth. IMHO...

The Spyderco Tenacious EXCEEDS everything that I have read about it!!! The fit, finish, and everything, just excellent!!! The clip and G10 scales make me miss carrying my Military, and the way the liner lock is so exposed reminds me of when I used to carry one of my favorite :spyder: 's ever: The Michael Walker Lightweight. ;)

Now, the steel I am familiar with when I was one of three winners for the Byrd Slogan contest. It is a good "working steel".

Only thing I do not like on the Tenacious is the font used for "China". :p

Yo Deac'...thanks for allowing me to own this knife, as it reminds me of carrying two of my faves in one. Also hats off to you Sal, for finding a factory that produced an incredibly well made knife.

Oh and please guys, no political drama...I go through enough drama in ****...

And yes...a cheap plug for the C110 Lava... :D

God bless, and thanks again Deac'!

Hey Chad, long time no see cuz !!! :D

I have a SE Tenacious and a OE Tenacious on its way. I too am impressed by how solid this thing is. The G10 finish is slightly 'different' to the previous incarnations of G10. The Tenacious G10 on my SE seems to be a bit more 'glossy' ??? Not sure if this is typical of the G10 on all Tenacii or just on this particular one.

Either way I am very impressed by the F&F of this little bugger (well, she's not so little!) The teeth on it are also very nice :D It has plenty of bite and seems to me to be every bit as good as knives twice or more its price.

Thanks for making me laugh so early in the morning Chad.
But you're right, you wouldn't say it's from China if you didn't know it.

Glad you like it Chad. While it's not "my cup of tea" for a number of reasons, build quality, steel quality, and place of manufacture are definitely not among them. I was very impressed by it. I'd really love to see what that maker could do with a a front lock like the Stretch or (don't hit me now bro) your Lava in G-10.

You guys get me all excited about the Tenacious. Can any of you show a photo of a Tenacious with the blade half open (90degree), preferably a SE? :p I'm so use to :spyder: 's with a choil or at least a "tang-stop" but I want to see if I can live with one without either "safety" feature before I place the order :D

Hi Chad,

I've handled the Tenacious a few times and the build quality is indeed amazing. However, I'd rather see the maker of the FG G10 Delica 4, do the Lava in G10 though, preferrably in orange G10. :D

Any southpaw owners of a Tenacious out there?

How's the handle for lefties, is there a thumb relief next to the thumb hole on the blade when it's closed like there is for a right hander????

After retireing my black Trance/CE, my fully serrated Tenacious has become my dedicated work knife.

Just did this last week, so I didn't cut much with it yet.

Great knife
