MT01P - Seconds Availability

#1

Post by TazKristi »

Very soon (as in within 1-3 hours), there will be a sku activated on our site to make "Seconds" from the MT01P available for purchase. Details follow.
Please pay particular attention to the bolded comments.

The new sku will be MT2ND.

The cost will be $36.00

These are "Seconds" and are notched as such in our traditional manner.

As before, there is a Limit of 2 per person.

Shipping charges will be the same as the original run.
Domestic Shipments will be free

International Shipments will be $25.00 / shipped UPS Ground
There is a Limited Quantity Available, once the site shows they are sold out, they really will be sold out.

The staff of SFO cannot hand-pick one for you, please do not request it (either online, by email, phone or fax). The orders will be pulled and shipped on a first-come, first-served basis.

*For those of you waiting for the next run, please be aware that shipping charges are likely to change, both for domestic and international shipments. If changes are made, they will be announced when the next Mule is confirmed and released.

I am sorry - cannot figure out the meaning of 'the seconds'.
The same mules as a first run?
The same specifications?
Or the mules with some imperfections?

I would appreciate an answer.

Thanks,

Franco

Yes they just didn't meet quality control standards for some reason.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

I believe they have minor imperfections. I know from previous posts that many members have bought seconds (at SFO sales) and cannot typically find the defects, or if they can they are minor.

Yes, like others have already said, they just didn't meet the quality standards to be sold as a brand new knife. It could be something as minor as a stain on the handle (which will be covered up when you put scales on it anyway :D )

Thanks friends.

I hope it were not a kind of 'bad heat treatment' imperfections.

BTW, a hardness of Rc 62 was quoted on this site. Is it a real hardness or a hardness before quenching (tempering)?

Lots of things. Uneven grinds, the one the new guy took the tip off during sharpening, the one that got dropped on the concrete floor point first, the one that warped a little during heat-treatment...

Murphy is always lurking ;)

So wait...

Do we just search "MT2ND" on the site to find it?
Cause, Its not finding anything. I am assuming that its not up yet, But I don't want to miss it.
Do you have a link that we will be able to get it at, when it becomes available?

I say just call SFO. That's what I'm gonna do, If I decide I want this.

I'm just gonna use mine as a kitchen knife probably. Keep it clean and dry, and in the knife block when not in use. w00t!
