heterosexualizing a spydie

Is it at all possible to un-rainbow a spyderfly? Just don't think I could be caught dead with a rainbow-fly but they seem to be more easily available then the plain ones. If it is possible could someone please enlighten me on how to go about it. Thanks :D

Lol yeah! But I don't blame you, I prefer the look on plain steel to the rainbow.

What type of coating is it? You may be able to dip it some kind of chemical to remove it.

It's anodized. You can try to un-anodize or even anodize it blue :o
ask around at bladeforums knifemaking section. they would love to help you.

It does look a little different in hand than it does in pictures. I'm sure you'll love the smooth action though. :D

Good luck!

If it is the same anodize as on a aluminum flashlight, then you can strip it yourself with a drain clearing chemical that contains lye (I believe Drano will work).

Yup. I have removed the black anodizing from a Mag Light using Easy-Off oven cleaner.

Just don't tell people that you can "flip it both ways" and I think you'll be okay...

Just put up the rainbow sticker in tha back window of your Subaru Outback and be done with it.

Actually, you could probably find someone to trade a plain one with you. Try BFC.

:spyder: :spyder:  :spyder: :spyder: Dude....Your title for this thread just Kicks@$$ :D :D :D I don't know, but I assume the rainbow is applied in the same manner as the DLC on Para's, Millie's, etc; The only way I know would be to sand it off, but....... Good luck dude :)

You could either re-anodise it or
polish it or
(whilst protecting the joints) glass bead blast it.

Or send it to me and buy yerself a new one :D

The Rainbow spyderfly actually strikes me as completely hilarious in an ironic sort of way. It's like Arnold pruning flowers in his garden wearing a straw hat, but he's pruning the flowers with a machine gun.
