I'll second Michael's request. We want hats! :)

I think now that Castro is out his Brother has taken over we should be able move ahead the Release date. :D (That's a joke)

I'm more into the Byrd T-Shirts myself.

:spyder: I don't get the joke, how do hats made in the style of the U.S. military connect to Cuba? :spyder:

There were more than a few people, when the 2008 catalog was released, who had a similar initial reaction when seeing the new Hatgy Spyderco Hat. The intention of Spyderco was a salute to our U.S. Military, however, with the red Spyderbug (think Commie Red Star) on a hat style that is also favored by communist leaders (think Mao, Castro) and hippie socialists everywhere, the ambiguity was too much for some people.

:D Good one Mark.

Well, this should come as no surprise to most of you, but... we're picky!

The hats are a custom design, we didn't take anything off the "shelf". There were a few issues that we weren't satisfied with. Remember we test everything - even down to the plastic bags we give away at tradeshows!

I honestly do not have an ETA at this point, but when I do, I'll post an update.

Maybe the engraving guy could do this in his spare time! :D
There isn’t any symbolism. The sea is the sea. The old man is an old man. The boy is a boy and the fish is a fish. The shark are all sharks no better and no worse. All the symbolism that people say is ****.
~Ernest Hemingway (describing The Old Man and the Sea)

To me ambiguity makes them interesting. Doing thing just a little different, just a little of the beaten track is very Spyderco :spyder: . It makes you think... :D

Yes they do; if I find some time over the weekend I'll take a picture from the plastic bag I got last weekend at IWA/Germany

BTW: I drove more than 9 hours by car to visit Spyderco, but now I've the plastic bag and some unforgettable impressions :D
