Cuttingedge gets the credit for the title the Volpe has been discontinued so I had to order a backup of this "sleeper" :spyder: ... the styling of this knife seems to me a loveit/hateit type of design....it's kinda grown on me over the year :p some new pix mixed in with some old pix :)
Brian, very nice pictures. Volpe is one of my Loves. Absolutely beautiful knife.
Thank you.
I am just wondering why you do not start one thread with all your pictures together?

Yee, why don't you? It is pretty easy! :D
Brian,
As always you provide all of us with your own unique look at Spydies.
Here is my absolute favorite in this post:
Great job!

The Volpe has always struck me as take-it-or-leave-it in terms of looks. I think a lot of folks don't dig the dip ahead of the Spyderhole. On the other hand though, it seems that any time I read someone's thoughts of the knife in terms of build quality and finish after they've had a chance to hold one they are impressed with it.
I sometimes think that if this knife had been done without the dip in the blade spine and had some grippy G10 pieces set in handle rather than wood, this knife would've been over big. It's a very smooth and solid framelock with a very usable blade shape done in a good steel. That's a configuration that a lot of folks go for.

Volpe is the beautiful knife, but I was able to realize this only after I hold one in my own hands and these are the features, which make this knife different, otherwise it would be one more solid build grippy G10.
I believe that Volpe can repeat C-83 story.

The dip, as far as looks, is what I like about the Volpe... or rather one of the things I like about it. The knife feels more like a custom knife than any other Spyderco. I like the dip, I like the olive wood, I like the Spyder cutout. Oh I also love the clip... or more specifically the two small screws and one large screw attachment of the clip caused by the pivot going through it. Not sure why but that's one of my favorite features of the knife.
About the only thing I don't like is the "Spyderco" printing on the blade. Would have much perefered a simple Spyder logo or even no logo at all seeing as how there's a logo on the handle.
Speaking of which... I don't have a Volpe in front of me, and I don't remember, is the logo on the blade removable? Is it burned in or is it just sort of printed on there? I wouldn't mind removing it.

I agree with you guys on the point that what makes the Volpe different makes it beautiful. I'm not saying I'd prefer to have the alternate version I mentioned, I like that the knife is not the usual fare. I'm just saying I get the sense that this knife has what a lot of folks want in many areas but aesthetically there can be a real disconnection. The Volpe is not unique in that regard, but all of all the Spyders I own it's the one that most acutely exemplifies that situation.
About the logo, all of the text on the blade has a raised texture to it but I don't know if it's entirely printed on the surface as opposed to etched into it.
thanks for posting your Volpe jujigatame
Whynot, bh49, and datan thanks for the kind compliments :)
I'm gonna try to throw up random threads instead of my own one (which i think fizzled out many months ago lol) ... just to keep things interesting :p
Both beautiful knives, gave one to my sone and he loves his. Thought The Volpe would be great but the blade release  as advertised "Chris Reeve style" is an ultimate insultate to the Chris Reeve Sebenza line. I will take apart the Volpe and enlarge/open up the current shallow offering, Other than the CHEAP wood tack-ons, it is a good knife, Full blade, robust grip.
