Not sure I would use this myself, as I don't carry my knives with self defense in mind (I'm not trained enough), but it's a funky idea.

I would probably use it as a mounting spot for the Sharpmaker/Bubble Level trick, though. I'll post some pics once I get a hose clamp (I work at a hardware store, so getting one shouldn't be too hard. :p ).

Just so nobody will end up with a worm-drive hose clamp, the thing dete is using is call a rope clip (or wire clip) at most home improvement stores. At least the chain where I work.

And yes, I will be trying that at work in the morning :D

Nice one, Bro. :)

You've shown me that before, but I'm glad you decided to share with everyone else too.

The Devil's horns aren't completely pragmatic. But you put out some excellent ideas to consider.

Nifty idea!
The Question, however, is: how does this thing wave? I would expect extreme reliability, given the size of the clamp, but I may be mistaken...
Any changes in comfort of carry, due to added thickness?
...but no, no, you know it all, it's harmless little bunny...

I understand how you feel,
however, I do think that you don't have to be super trained or mega skilled :)
that self-defense is genetically hard wired in most of us.

would love to see your sharpmaker/bubble level trick!

depending on the knife, I think it increases waving, if your into that sort of thing, by a lot!
I've had some pretty iffy quality knives wave rather well with this thing.

it is definitely bulky, but hasn't bothered me over the years of carry,
and my ex who was military, she did it to her knife and made it her edc out in the field and loved it.
I think it depends on the individual. please be careful though!
we are afterall talking about knives...

thanx,
and my hat goes off to the Jot, Fantabulous knife design! :D

The knife that made me go look into the hardware store
before I had even heard of the Jot or the Gunting,
was actually the CRKT M-13 SF

I was a fanatic of this knife,
and the poor man's version was the Boker AFTF1
which I remember back in the day just raving about it
to Monocrom saying I found my knife!

but I wanted the quality of my Delica with the ability
of a removable combat guard and the devilhorns was the result.

Hi Dete,
Cool - a Gunting Delica, that's an interesting idea, thanks for the video and for the hint.

of nothing else, it's great for those times you have to wear gloves and use your blade. Cold weather or heavy work gloves and the :spyder: hole don't mix sometimes, and if you need your other hand to hold something while opening your knife, this would be very handy. And since it's not permanent, you just put it on before you go to work. Great idea and inexpensive too...

thanx,
this utility aspect is very important to me,
thank you for pointing it out, sweaty hands, tight pivot,
working with liquids, we've all encountered this,
but hopefully will never have to encounter a SD situation.
