Jano - well, that's hard to say.
Overall, it is good value for the price... But if I compare all Byrds I had bought (SS Caracara, G-10 Caracara, all black Caracara and Crosbill) it seem to be of fair lower quality than others. You have to examine carefully to find imperfections on "plain" SS Byrds (e.g. only little bit uneven top swedge of Crosbill - and that's about it :eek :) , but on this G-10 version there are many... After my experience with "plain" SS Byrds I was just expecting better.
Yes, probably too high expectations, given the price range, however if I'm to buy another Byrd, it is definitely going to be plain SS version.
huugh,
I have a SS CaraCara, one of the earliest marked as 440C and a Crossbill, both in PE. I dont carry them much these days, but still like them and I really think that the price to performance ratio is outstanding. As for the small imperfections, these can be found on spydercos as well, but remember, that these knives are made as users, not collector grade customs, its production piece, so things like that happen.
I have handled several byrds in G10 and FRN in the shop over here, and as for the G10 I really liked them. Currently my knife priorities are somewhere else as by byrds, but I am still awaiting some words on the G10 PE Crossbill with ambi clip. :D
Aside from the imperfections, I hope the CC is gonna serve you well. :)
