It's way too expensive for an aluminum handled Herbst, but that's all I could see, what am I missing?

I see nothing wrong with it. Not even the price. John F. Jensen still has a few and he's charging over $100 for his. I think around $100 for an Aluminum Herbst is a good deal.

Plus........the guy has 100% positive feedback.

Hmmm, I'm not new and maybe should be catching something, but the aluminum Herbst was originally offered with ATS-55 prior to the VG-10 version (I don't remember whether it had a lanyard hole, but it looks right).

I'm too lazy to go upstairs to look at mine, so I guess I'll just wait for the right answer. :D It does look like he copied the old Spyderco writeup word for word, but then ...

Nice knife though ... very under-appreciated when it was in production. $100 might not be such a bad price these days for a mint collector version of the Herbst.

did they all have lock inlays (odd screw)or full lock scale thingys

these things just strike me as odd. i have never handled nor seen one so i may be way off base

It looks just like mine. The pics are a bit on the dark side, which might make me a little leary, but overall it looks like the real deal. Maybe the clip looks a little off, but can't tell for sure. I can't wait to find out what I'm missing.

Is it this line: the C53 is utilitarian but non-menacing when taken out and used in a crowd.

The bidding history is a bit od.
One guy seems to push up the price.

The aluminum version is the variation of the original in Ti, so the pe and se in aluminum are marked "V". ;)

And that guy pushing it up has no feedback whatsoever. Looks like someone might be getting greedy?
