Which Spyders do you carry and use regularly?

For me it's Manix PE, Caly 3 PE, Tasman Salt PE and Pacific Salt PE. I've got an SE Pacific coming which I plan to EDC as my beater knife. I know I'll be carrying and using the Stretch 2 frequently when I get it, and I think the P'kal as well.

I have other :spyder: s I wouldn't want to part with, but these are the ones that find their way into my pockets most often.

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

These are constants...

Work: ZDP D4
Woods: Para-Millie (either my wife or myself every time we go)

These are rotated with other blades...

Caly 3 G10/VG10 for personal EDC
Chax modded Native 1 for personal EDC
mini-Manix for woods carry (if Carolyn is totin' the Para)

All are PEs

Dale

If I'm dressed there's a Kiwi in my watch pocket and "something bigger" in my left back pocket. If I'm out of the apartment, there's a burgundy micarta Jester on my key ring. The "something bigger" does vary a bit - lately it's been fairly evenly divided between the "dentless" CF/ZDP Caly 3 which Sal gave me, my STR customized lignum vitae Stretch, and my A.T. Barr One-Eyed-Jack, but today it's WTC Knife #1504.

Around the house, my Perrin Street Bowie and Street Beat, plus a few of Spyderco's "Kitchen Sharps" get a regular workout in the kitchen and there's alway a handful of folders scattered around - a Native in the bathroom for opening mail, a Persian and a Kiwi on my nightstand and, at the moment, a grey Calypso Jr., Krein flat ground Schempp Persian, and clipless Kopa floating around the living room.

Day in day out I fond myself grabbing my PE D4 or my PE Tasman. Just depends on whether I am in the mood for a hawkbill or not.

The P'kal is my constant EDC.

It is usually augmented by another Spydie, typically a Dodo or CalyIII.

I prefer full flat PE - Caly 3 or Calypso Jr. ZDP as folder; and Bill Moran or Fred Perrin as fix blade :)

(from time to time Military S30V or Para-Military as alternative)

Rotation

Post by Bolster »

My rotation is getting fairly stable as time passes:

Caly III ZDP gets the most carry.
Caly III VG-10 if the work's a little rougher (better grip)
Caly Jr ZDP if the work is really rough (not as painful to replace)
Mini Persian if I'm dressing up.
Yojimbo if there could be trouble.
UKPK for travel to large cities.
Queen Teardrop in D2 for clipless pocket carry (NKP friendly)
Queen F&W Swinguard Folder for sheer ostentation.

My most-carried are my foliage green Delica 4 CE, yellow Salt I SE, and more recently my Caly 3 ZDP. I always make sure to have some SE on me, even if sometimes it is only my Ladybug 2 SE that is always on my keychain.

In the kitchen I use the Yang and a red-handled SE K05 quite a bit.

Caly 3 G-10 SE and more recently Delica 4 ZDP SE get rotated in. Cento 3 also get a lot of use.

So many great choices...

Mine is way simple.

Delica 4 most of the time around work.

Endura 4 Wave or Military after work.

That's really it. I don't carry much else.

Either my Ocelot and a Custom 110 in BG-42, or my Ocelot alone.
