I'm sold on the Military!!!!
I've been carrying Vincent's S30V Military PE for about 2 days now. I originally thought that this knife was too large. What's funny is today I got my regular EDC Delica out and was like "What's this small weak knife?" :D
I never ever in a million years thought I would like a liner lock. The Spyderco Military has sold me. Now this doesn't mean that I trust all liner locks but I at least trust the one on the Military.
In the next couple days I'll be purchasing my first Military. I'll also be purchasing the Green one in D2 when it comes out.
Now I see why the Military is such an excellent knife. Right now I don't know if I like the Military or the Para-Military better. If the Military was a compression lock there would be no competition.
Nice work on this liner lock Spyderco. They for sure did it right!!!
Thanks again Vincent for sending it to me and letting me carry it. I'll be sending it back to you on Monday. Send me your address please. I lost it. :)

I had my suspicions you were going to like it David. It's certainly one of my all time favorites. BTW, the BG42 model is superb. The S90V should be a world beater. I'd say the same about the CPM D2 model but I've got no experience with CPMized D2. It should be pretty special too though. Joe

Agreed 100%. This knife is hard to beat. Definately worth the couple bucks more than the G-10 version. Nothing wrong with G-10, but that PP CF is amazing!markg wrote:David, if you can find a BG-42 with the CF handle, I would get one of those.
I think you will like it even more than the regular one. The peel ply CF is as grippy if not more so than G-10 but significantly lighter. It also has a really loud "clank" when the lock engages, which is sort of cool.

They're out there. I just received one for my birthday. The texture on the CF is indeed very grippy, and fun to look at.markg wrote:David, if you can find a BG-42 with the CF handle, I would get one of those.

Still haven't bought one. Been holding off because I can't decide between a fully serrated edge and a plain edge. I don't want a combo edge.
I'm considering getting a full SE Military. :) ....just the regular S30V model for now. I really want the foliage green D2 model. :) I wonder if the blade will be coated or satin?

I don't have a Military (and have never handled one) because I've always thought they would be too big for me. I'm thinking more and more about one....
In cedjunior photo it looks like the choil has jimping...is that just on the CF BG-42 model?
Thanks,
:)

You will love it!David Lowry wrote:Well, I just ordered a fully serrated regular G10 Military with S30V.
Can't wait to get 'er. :)
The other day, I was out in the yard and seen one of our tree's needed some pruning. The branch was about a half inch thick and I had my SE Mili on me  . I opened er' and put the branch on the bottom of the blade and gave er' a quick tug. That branch just fell off with one pull. Later that night I prep'ed some food with the same blade (after I washe er'). Then after dinner, when I put the trash out I had to cut up a huge cardboard box for the recycling bin (a BIG power wheels box) :D . The cardboard was double wall for the most part, and triple wall in the corners. My SE Mili zipped through the double wall with ease. When I hit the triple wall in the corners, I just sawed my way through. It made quick work of the branch, food, and box :D .
Lets see some of that stuff I mentioned done with a PE :p . I don't care how sharp your PE is.....................................SE will out cut it 99% of the time. The only thing PE does better than SE is shave !!!!!!..................................................................IMHO :D
I'm still trying to figure out how to use a serrated edge for woodcarving, which I do a lot of...So-Lo Kustoms wrote: The only thing PE does better than SE is shave !!!!!! :D

So-Lo Kustoms,
I fell in love with SE big time about 3 days ago. I had never cut cardboard with an SE blade before.
I usually just use a PE Delica. I happened to have my SE Foliage Green Delica on me and it went through about 7 feet of cardboard way faster than my PE does.
I about crapped. I have a feeling that I'm going to be a big fan of SE.
I use my SAK's to whittle so I have no need for delicate wood work with my Spydies. :)
