All this talk about SE vs PE makes me wonder if we (all us SE spydie-Knuts) can convert the PE EDC'ers to SE :D

Good luck with that :p

I use both, but have a definite preference for PE.

And there is an SE fan club, unofficially anyway, and Spydutch is the president ;)

Well heck, I'm in :D

There are many models I'd love to see in SE that just aren't offered:
Captain, Lava, Spin, etc, etc.

We need more serrations!

Can I have in? I've been a SE advocate ever since I bought my first Spyderco. Here's my only Spydie right now (was the first one I bought), and it's SE!

Serrations: unravel the predjudices

#11

Post by JD Spydo »

What the heck!! Let's form an SE fan club. A serrated fraternity if you will  Most people and even Spyderheads and knife lovers in general just don't realize that Spyderco's serrations are not the same ones on the kitchen knives your grandmother has used for so many years.

Their serrations are hone-able and maintainable. Not to mention a very well engineered design in which function is at the nucleus. And Spyderco has provided the hardware to accomplish this rather easily with a little patience. The 701 Profiles will take you to the promise land of razor sharp serrations.

There are a lot of predjudices of all kinds that are nothing more than misunderstandings and just plain lack of knowledge about a certain variations. I think that most predjudices of serrated blades are nothing more than false misconceptions. Honestly folks for you all who allegedly hate SE blades how many of you have honestly given the Spyder-edge a fair trial. The reason I say that is because I was somewhat that way myself before I started carrying my full sized Dyad full time. EDGE-U-KAY-SHUN will make for knowledge of SERRATIONS

Serrations are one of the main reasons I was drawn to Spyderco knives. While I don't carry SE exclusively, I feel weird without at least 1 SE on me. That's why I carry a ladybug rescue SE on my keychain so at the very least I always have some SE!

My first Spydercos were a fully serrated Delica and Endura. I thought they were the only way to go, the reason for Spyderco's being. But, some where along the way I switched to PE exclusively. It just seems easier to me to sharpen and more useful for every day cutting.

Now, before you exclaim, "That is absolute nonsense. You sir, are a bafoon" and pound the "Reply" button with equal furry, I said "seems easier to me." No guys in white lab coats were consulted, no test mediums were concocted, and no notes were scribbled in a book for later reference. No need for a libel suit. Just seems easier and more practical to me.

He, he, you can count me in. As I said many times before, the only reason I'm currently carrying a PE is because Spyderco doesn't make this particular model in SE (and G-10) :p .
I heard some people sent their (heavily) chipped blades for repairings and they cut a few serrations there so I suspect it wouldnt be that difficult to send a PE to be "corrected".

I too am going through the PE-to-SE conversion. I have both blade types in the Caly 3 and the SE is getting all the carry time these days.

Adventura

#20

Post by Left Hand Path »

While I am still enamored with my Adventura and am enjoying the PE, I think that an SE version would be great, especially considering that the designer wants one!

The Adventura is a such a great knife - it is my favorite SS handled knife and works great IWB. I also appreciate the 4 way clip - being left-handed mine is currently set up LH and tip-down - I love it. It would be interesting to see that blade shape in SE.
