In Memoriam…The Fly Fund

#1

Post by Bolster »

Whereas we, the members of the Spyderco forums, believe an injustice has been done by U.S.I.C.E. both to Spyderco, for seizure of Spyderco’s property, and to us, Spyderco’s worldwide customers, for limiting our freedoms to obtain these tools (see thread 'Kiss the Balis Goodbye'), and

Whereas we believe Spyderco to be a shining example of corporate integrity, innovation, and customer-centered responsiveness,

We hereby resolve to show our support by buying additional Spyderco products above and beyond our normal purchasing patterns. With each purchase and posting that is undertaken to help Spyderco defray the fines imposed upon it by U.S.I.C.E., forumites will calculate a new total, so we can watch the Fly Fund grow. Our stated goal is [to be determined]. As finances permit, we will endeavor to gift some of our purchases to others, so we can spread enthusiam for, and support of, Spyderco. As more people own and carry knives, the more difficult it will be for government to create new anti-carry regulations. To this end we will each do our part.

We subscribe to the honor system that the purchases posted here are *in addition* to our normal buying habits. We wish Spyderco all the best, and lend them our continued support, as they attempt to bring the premium products that we desire to the marketplace, in an inappropriately hostile legal and regulatory atmosphere.

Just ordered the following items to help the Fly Fund: 1 Yojimbo, 1 Caly3, 1 Kopa Turquoise. Running total so far: $302. I also joined Knife Rights.

(Next forumite: don't forget to add your total to the above for a new running total.)

Well, i've got a lot of bills this month, but this is a good cause, gotta support Sal and Company during this depressing time

i've basically curtailed my Spydie purchases since i purchased my S30V Millie, as i've got more Spydies than i know what to do with (and yes, i do in fact have two of the aforementioned 'Flies and NO I WILL NOT return them (don't have to anyway as Balis are okay in Maine and NH), i'll just keep them for their collectors value and to extend a virtual middle finger to our "wonderful" government....

anyway, i stopped off at my local dealer and picked up an Endura 4 Wave, and a Ladybug 3, i know it's not much, but it's all i can do at the moment, maybe when my Federal refund comes in i'll pick up a few more Spydies

559+95 = $654

What is the Fly Fund?

What is U.S.I.C.E. ?

What is this all about?

Nevermind. I saw the other thread.

Excellent idea. I just made some purchases tonight, but I'll wait to ensure they actually went through before I add mine to the tally.

new graham on monday... and weds. you can bet your you-know-what i won't be back empty-handed -- especially now that i have a cause!!!

suppose whatever i get will count as an "above and beyond" purchase, as on my budget, getting a spydie at all is probably a bit excessive...

Purchased 3 Spydercos this weekend that are directly related to this thread, though per my 5th amendment rights, I decline to elaborate. ;)

Total: $241+1041= $1282 (I should get double credit though...I can say no more....)
There isn’t any symbolism. The sea is the sea. The old man is an old man. The boy is a boy and the fish is a fish. The shark are all sharks no better and no worse. All the symbolism that people say is ****.
