Is this a factory edge of some kind or is this thing just modified?

Hard to say. I never saw any Sypdercos like that before. Perhaps the more experienced Spyderco aficionados can shed some light on this.... thing.

Maybe the serrations got dull and he got just a little bit too carried away trying to sharpen them.

It is clear that the recessed edge is not factory ground - it is very uneven. Swedge ditto. So he is trying to sell badly reground something. No interest, thank you :D .
Who knows, maybe he was trying to make a folding Tom Brown's Hunter?

IMO this is a Ladybug in red which lost his CE as somebody grinded away the serrations (deformedly and useless on a Ladybug blade) :o

I emailed the Seller and stated the facts on this one.

I asked that they will do the honorable thing and change the Description to reflect the true condition of this knife. We'll see.

Heh, a friend of mine did this to his Gerber LST the 1st time he tried to use a wheelstone sharpener...it happened SOOO fast!
There isn’t any symbolism. The sea is the sea. The old man is an old man. The boy is a boy and the fish is a fish. The shark are all sharks no better and no worse. All the symbolism that people say is ****.

Call me crazy, but I think it looks rather cool. I would have done a few things differently though, I'd make the grind a little higher, if not full flat, and change the chisel grind on the PE portion to a regular grind on both sides.

It's definately creative, but I dont' know if I'd spend that much on a dirty mutilated LBK. I'd rather spend a lot less and mutilate it myself :D

does anyone have the rarely seen or spoken of "mosquito?"

i think that was the name... a ladybug with a blade ground into a "pin-like" sort of shape... i remember sal posting on here a couple years ago, saying that they'd ground a few down at the factory, for friends...

anyone know what i'm talking about????

My thoughts, exactly.
The mind commands the body and it obeys. The mind orders itself and meets resistance.
