sunday picture show Tim Zowada C56
hi all,
Deacon's post on the Worker prompted me to find the only C56 Zowada.....the only Zowada anything that I have.... :) It's a great design with Micarta scales and VG-10 steel.....it's not left friendly, the spyderhole is a little covered by the handle as well.....but this Dagger shaped blade is impressive nonetheless....
special guest appearancd by my guthook-less Ed Scott Impala.... :)
the Impala's G10 handle feels great in my hand.....only thing i'd change on the handle is to maybe deepen the forefinger choil to prevent the index finger from sliding onto the blade....but I know the design is intentionally made with a shallow forefinger choil to allow skinning jobs with forefinger on the tang type work.....I really like the Impala.....I wish I had another one...

Excellent pictures of one of the more obscure Spydies Brian.
As for the choil issue with the Impala. I've found a shallow choil can be ok, as long as there is a substantial "horn" behind it to keep the rest of you fingers in place (as on the Schempp Persian). On the other hand, the combination of a shallow choil and little or nothing to prevent the rest of you fingers from moving forward definitely does not inspire confidence.

Great thread Brian!
As you can tell, I also love the TZ.
Great score Brian, these things are more rare than an honest politician, especially the VG-10 PE. :D

yeah Paul, despite the very shallow forefinger choil, the shape of the Impala's handle feels my small mitts quite nicely.......I guess I admire the handle shape...it would be "perfect" if there was more "safety" near the ricasso/tang area.....and even though it's a linerlock......like my Military's I've had zero probs or complaints.......truth is the only Linerlock from Spyderco that has ever given me probs is the Ti Lum C46 that I have....all the others clipits have a solid lockup.... :)The Deacon wrote:Excellent pictures of one of the more obscure Spydies Brian.
