Dr. Snubnose on the Snubnose Revolver

#1

Post by Dr. Snubnose »

I recently posted on a thread started by Irish Lager entitled "new pistol on layaway" the following offer to members of this forum who own or plan to own a snubnose revolver:

"If anyone out there owns a snubnose revolver and wants me to send them a copy of instructions for a special fast speed reloading technique that I invented...( with a little practice... from last shot fired to reload and ready firing position in less than 4 seconds) pm me your e-mail addy (as the document is too long to send via PM), and I'd be glad to send you instructions on my technique to try out...I made this offer to Irish Lager and thought maybe others here might be interested".....Doc :D

PS...The technique is really geared to 2"-3" revolver barrel lenghts but can also be done with a little practice using a 4" barrel....Doc :D

Doc,

Good stuff! I wanted to ask you or some of my other revolver fighters what there thoughts of that 8 shot snubby 357 by S&W. I believe it is the 627 model. I have not had any come through class yet and it really piqued my interest.

Stonyman...Thanks...I haven't played with the Smith 8 shot but have had some experience with the 8 shot made by Taurus....I would have rather played with the Smith...but the Taurus was easy to carry though bulkier than say any other snubnose...I like the concept of 8, but I had to give the Taurus back to them cause the finish was defective and bought a 340PD instead by Smith when Taurus gave back my money......Doc :D

I got the article and read it. Sounds interesting. I don't have a revolver so I can't try it, but I'm going to save the article so that when I do get a snubbie I can give it a try.

Thanks.

Hey, Doc!

What do you think of this guy's speed loading technique?

I had a Smith 640. Great revolver. I traded it for a Glock 26 because it made better sense. It still does, but I miss that Smith.

Now the only wheelgun I have is a '73 Detective Special. By all accounts a nicer piece, but I'll tell you, I still miss that Smith.

I first qualified with an SP101. That's a terrific gun too. -So many nice choices!

I have seen this before...(Incredible)and he is one of those rare individuals who can accomplish such feats...he is not the norm....(I wish he was) Look at how fast he can engage those targets...and BTW they are all positive hits...simply amazing....Now if he was just a little faster than me...he might have something there :p Doc :D

Currently, when moving prior to engaging and double tapping a target, I'm usually much more accurate on my second shot...

My shooting buddy is usually better on his first shot...

His retired Colonel Dad of course uses a wellgun and hits both times. :D

As a matter of fact Psimon, yes people are that fast. That clip is the famous S&W Team shooter Jerry Mickulek (sp?). He is the holder of about every wheelgun speed and accuracy record in the professional shooting game. I have met him several times at competion shoots, and he is a true gentleman and very willing to help newer shooters. By the way , in the video he is shooting a S&W 625 .45acp revolver and the fast reloads are helped a bit by the use of full moon cartridge clips. But he is just about as fast with a regular wheelgun and speedloaders. Bigk6

Simon: As BigK6 stated it is very very real....I forgot that Jerry was using Moon Clips in that video...that will indeed speed things up a bit....but Jerry is really that fast with or without moon clips....Doc :D

I know, me and my semi-auto might have a chance, from about 45 meters...with a ghillie suit.

Edit: Did you see that quick load though????
