Just got my Yojimbo!

#1

Post by thefly01 »

My black Yojimbo just arrived and I'm ecstatic! This knife is much heavier duty than I previously thought. Has a nice solid lockup and very grippy G-10. I especially love the deep finger choil. I do have one question though did any of these come with a spyder etching in the clip? I seem to recall the picture in the 06 catalog having one. Certainly it's not a big deal just wondered what others had :)

Congrats on the Yojimbo, and it IS heavy duty!

Mine did not come with a spyderbug on the clip, but I remember that catalog pic as well...

So some have a spyder etched on the clip and some don't?

If I could ever find one, I would like to get it in black but it appears that they have vanished into thin air! :(

I often wondered why this knife didn't come with a black clip and a black blade option. If it had, I would of bought one. It would really have been a more tactical knife.

Just as many people complain about black blades/clips as who seemingly enjoy them. Had it carried long lasting popularity we may have seen a black blade and certainly we would have seen a trainer. As someone demonstrated in a recent thread; you can blacken your own blades and clips with products from Midway. :) Hmmm maybe I'll try it.

Anyone know where the "other" Yojimbo thread went, where we were discussing possible sources of black-handled models?

Did it get "disappeared" by an admin?

I don't think there was any active selling going on; just collectors trying to help each other find a grail knife.

Congrats on the new Yo and I hope you know realize why this knife is so appealing to most who own them. As far as the clip. Doc brought me up to speed with grit tape. A nice piece cut to conform to your clip would work wonders for you. Improves grip and control of the folder on the draw and transitioning your grip if need be. Give it a try, I am sure you will like it. Take care and enjoy your YO! :D

Hey Vader! I was looking also but couldn't find it. Last I saw it I let someone know where I saw one. Mysteriously that one disappeared as fast as the thread. Oh well hopefully someone has a killer spydie on the way :)

Yes, a person always has that option. However, if I'm going to pay good money for a product, why be unhappy. I simply look for another product that fits the bill. In my case it was the Benchmade Gravitator. I ended up buying two with the "black blade" and Benchmade ended up mailing me a black clip--no charge--for the knife that came with a stainless clip.

Since the knife has been discontinued I don't think we're going to see it in any other configurations.
