NOW the circle is complete...

Aloha ALL,

Okay, so I am at getting ready to go out and do some errands with the family when I hear what appears to be the "big brown truck" in front of my house. This is then confirmed with a few loud blasts from the horn of said "big brown truck"! For a split second, I doubted it was my Forum Lava, as my wife has been receiving stuff in the mail more than I have these days...

REWIND:
I am sleeping on the couch and my cat Anakin (whom I saved one stormy night) decides to pounch on my face and "make tracks". I wake up, irritated of course, and ahhhhh, I know I have been cut. Too familiar with "that feeling". I now wear a cut from the middle of my forehead down to my left eyebrow. Great. I dunno whose face looked funnier though, mine now, or my wife's when she saw the blood! Been trying to heal this as much as possible before I go back to ****...open wounds in **** are not a good thing.

PRESENT:
I run out of the house and see the UPS truck. When I get to the doorless "passenger side", there is no driver and I see THE box on the driver's seat. I hear the driver rummaging through the back of the truck. At this point, I am wondering if it *could* be Jano ready to jump out with something ZDP in his hand yelling things in Slovak to me! LOL! Driver then appears and says, "Hey." He looks at me again and says nervously and loudly this time, "HEeEEEeeEEyyYyyY!..T'ank you!" as he hands me THE box. (Apparently, he missed the cut across my head the first time, then scared him when he did see it!) I look down at the addy on the box. When I knew it was THE box, I felt like when '3PO identified R2 in the Jawa's ride after being droidnapped, "It IS you! It IS you!"

:spyder: My Spyderco Forum 2006 Lava's have arrived! :spyder:

I got "teased" the last time I said my Mahalo's to Spyderco and you all when my Lava was confirmed for production by a good buddy of mine. However, I promised Dexter Ewing that I wouldn't...oops. That being said, I will keep this brief. Mahalo much to Sal and Crew for "seeing" some kind of "value" behind my concept enough to not only make it a production model, but to make it a Forum model as well. Sal, I pray that the Lava sells by the millions for you, and everyone will be happy with the C110, to give back what you have not only given me, but all of us: Innovative, functional knives.

I finally got my USER Lava. I just hope the engraving holds up as this is a VERY special knife to me and the engraving will be a constant reminder of a very special place, with very special people. This is why I chose to EDC my Forum version...*yeah*! :)

Mahalo much to the "140" who purchased a 2006 Forum Lava, as well as to my Knife Ohana here. Remember...
Please do not force your hand to the Lava. Let the Lava flow...It will conform to *your* hand. ;)

Thanks God, and mahalo to you all.
Chad

PS: Even though I have the Spyderco Forum 2006 Lava in hand...I am still finding all of this hard to believe! I mean, man...this is SPYDERCO! See you all later! ;)

Congratulations, Knifebrutter! It seems a fitting close to this chapter in the saga of the Lava, of course with many more chapters to come!

Honestly, I'm at a loss for words right now... :o

Very nice. Congrats big time Chad. I am trying to talk myself out of buying this knife, but its not working. $80 still seems like a lot ot me, but I still haven't experienced any of the CLB designs, and this one is very hard to say no to.

One thing I'd like to know: Does the production version live up to the expectations you had?

Congratulations on finally getting your own forum design in your hands

How much longer did the wait feel? It was a pretty long wait, but it had to be agonizing for you :p

Seconded. That would be cool. Original drawings too, if possible?

Not the first time I've ever told someone "Glad to see you finally got yours", but it may be the first time I've ever meant it in "a good way". :D

Congrats Chad, glad yours finally arrived!

Glad to hear you finally got yours, Chad! :D Somewhat ironic that one of the last to get his was the designer...

I would also like to see the evolution of the design from drawing to proto to finished product.

Chad,

Glad you finally got your forum Lava. Sounds a bit ironic to me you being the designer and all.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.
