Tell me about the Para-Military
I've been eyeballing these for a time. The local dealer doesn't carry them, and I haven't seen one in person. Is it reasonably stout without liners ? Has it ever been produced on other than G-10 ? I thought I read that there was another version in the pipe. If so, what are the improvements ? It is a full flat grind right ? Thanks-
Hi fishshooter, first off, welcome to the forums. We are glad you are here and hope you enjoy your stay!!
I would like to suggest that you use the search function and you will find a heap of info about the Para. It is an extremely popular knife. It is very light and very strong. It DOES have imbedded steel liners! G-10 is the only way it has been produced I believe. It's compression lock is very strong.
Here is some additional reading for you.

The liners are not full, but in my opinion are enough. The knife is quite strong without being heavy, making it a real winner for a working every day carry knife. Sal has asked for input on possible refinements, but I have not seen any timetable for when it might occur. I don't recommend waiting for the next one, get one now (and then when the refined model comes out, get it too! :D )

First and formost, welcome to the forums!! :D I have had my para less than a week and I love it, I dont see it leavin my pocket for a long time. I suggest that if you have been eyeballing it for a while and you have the funds to do so that you buy one right away. If you like the delica I think youll like the para more.

Go with the CF Military! I let my regular Mil get away from me a few years ago and have missed it a lot. Picked up a CF last weekend and am really happy with it. I had forgotten how marvelous it is to carry a full sized light weight knife. The Peeled Ply (?) CF is the best handle material ever.markIVbigblock wrote:I too have been looking at the paramillie but I would like one in carbon fiber does anyone know if there is a carbon fiber paramillie in the works or should i just forget about it for now and go for a military in CF

The Para is a great knife. As has already been pointed out, the Para does have steel liners and when combined with G10 it is certainly strong enough for most work. In fact, I don't think there is any normal hard work that would phase the Para. I have one and like it very much. It is light, strong, has great blade steel and is not too big to carry comfortably. My only complaint is I wish it rode a bit lower when clipped in the pocket.
If you don't have one then it's simple....you should get one.

By the way, the lock is great too. It and the back lock are my two favorite lock designs.
Take a little time and study the compression lock...it's well done.

I know that the Para is meant to retain the Military's handle shape while giving it a shorter blade, but are the ergonomics exactly the same? The reason I'm asking is that I know of a shop that carries the Military, but not the Para, and I am leaning more toward the Para. Would handling the Millie give me a good idea of what the Para feels like? Thanks.
Ask me where I got my awesome SUPERHAWK!

Yes, it would. The handle of the Pare is a bit shorter than the Militray's. If you have a comfortable grip on the D4, you will love the Para.SoCal Operator wrote:Would handling the Millie give me a good idea of what the Para feels like?
