Does anyone EDC a 93mm Blue FRN Rescue?

#1

Post by Jenner 515 »

I have an opportunity to pick one of these up NIB for a pretty good price.

If I do however I would need to postpone my Yellow Tasman Salt PE by a month to earn a little more money.

I already rotate through edc a D'Allara Rescue...

What do you guys have to say, do you have the blue rescue and how does it rate among your Spydies?

I EDC a Blue Handled 93mm Rescue at work. Working as a nurse I went with it because it was more Sheeple friendly - Not black, Not pointy. The only thing I would change is for it to be all serrated, and a bit lighter/smaller. The 93mm Rescue is right at the upper limit of what is comfortable in size & weight in scrub pockets. The 1" non-serrated blade tip is a chisel grind type edge, which I am not real fond of. Outside of those 2 small gripes, it's been a great knife.

Once they release the BRG ZDP-189 SE Delicas, that will be my new work EDC. I really liked the ZDP-189 Delica 4 when I carried it at work, but at work I prefer a SE. I'd get the normal SE Delica 4, but I figure why not wait for the upcoming BRG ZDP-189 SE Delica 4.

I have one I've carried off and on. I did a rope cutting test using it and posted the result on the blade and barrel forum a while back. It was a great performer cutting that hemp rope.

I EDC'd the 79mm Rescue for a while. It's smaller, but I found it surprisingly useful. The last teeth give you wharnie-like tip performance. The VG-10 serrations are plenty sharp for pushcuts through enveloped and such. I'd rate it 'surprisingly useful' for an EDC, though you'd want a more conventional PE blade for food/lunch prep.

I EDC a orange Rescue Jr./79mm every day IWB. I chose the smaller one because, even though I haven't handled the bigger one I still thought it would be too big for IWB. I wouldn't mind the blue and probably would have taken it had it been there instead of the orange. However, I do like the orange color.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

I was thinking the same thing... and thought that the Atlantic Salt could be like a yellow rescue with full serrations yet smaller.

I rotate a 93mm Rescue into my EDC line-up regularly. I like it. It is a nice size for just about anything I would typically encounter in a day. I like the mini PE portion of the blade and the good amount of serrations it has. The blue is a nice colour and the handle itself fits in my hand just fine.

I would miss it if it were gone. That's about where I am with it.

Hi Peter welcome aboard. Don't worry about not knowing, everything has its own vocabulary. Personally I like my EDC RH IWB. I find the BLK FRN H1 C91 SE to suit my needs perfectly.

How about you? :D

You had to do that... :D

And for the translation:
Personally I like my Every Day Carry Right-Hand Inside Waist Band. I find the Black Fibreglass-Reinforced Nylon Pacific Salt Serrated Edge to suit my needs perfectly.

For all the model numbers (C102, FB04 &c), Ted's site is great.

Enjoy your stay!

ROFL... I like that hahahaha. And Thanks TH232 for the translation.

I don't have much variables. Just a plainedge Calypso C64BMP. For my EDC I have a Serrated Hunter fully metal grip. An older model I think (see pict)

Welcome to the forums, Peter, and enjoy your stay here, it's a very nice place! :D

What you show is a C03S Hunter, one of the early :spyder: models (production startet in 1983 I guess, but don't know when it was out of production). Do you only EDC it or EDU too? :D :p :D

@Peter1960
Thanksss
... I do EDU it too... when necessary :-)
But in office-situation... it's not that often.
I have it a long time allready, together with same model but plainedged.

A long time I didn't carry it because of all the negative comments I got when people saw the knife. But now I carry and use it with ease :-)

I use to carry old model of 93mm Rescue (with plastic clip) during working days as a emergency back up. I have SAK for general office tasks as well Jester on my key ring.
