Howdy! / Knife info?

#1

Post by Curly »

`lo people!

im new here, but been reading the forums for a while, and "lovin it"!
im norwegian, so my english is soso, so bare with me :)

well then, to the knife info part. a year ago i bought my first spydie, it was used, from a second hand store, and got it for 31$ (200nok).
i loved the knife then, and still loving it every day.
The spydie is a Wayne Goddard clipit, with ATS-55 steel and CE, but the question now is, how old is it? i cant find any info on the web about it.
my first thought when i dident find any info, was that it was a rare knife, or that it was a forgotten one.

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n69/ ... f72f33.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

please enlighten me.

(its soooooon going to get lots of rest, when a brand new D4 Pe, and Byrd meadowlark (mainly for my girlfriend) is landing in my mailbox :D )

i think it was originally released back in 1991. there was recently a sprint run of it in... i want to say VG-10... with a burgendy FRN handle.

The original Wayne Goddard in Micarta was introduced back in '91. The FRN Goddard Lightweight version of the C16 was not introduced until '99 or 2000. For some reason, the Lightweight did not do well in the marketplace, and was gone from the 2001 catalog. The grey Sprint run version came out, I believe, in 2004.

Welcome to the Forums Curly. Deacon pretty much covered the answer to your question, so I can't add to it.

And your english is excellent. Don't worry about it.

Welcome Curly! Nice knife, and you will love your Delica 4 when it comes.
I would love to visit Norway, I am a native Texan but by blood I am mostly Norwegian. My father was born here in the States too, but he is always reminding my that I am a Norsky.

thanks all!

impressed with the kindness of this forum, only one i know that can nearly match it is an norwegian mac forum.
yeah, im satisfied with the knife, been a good companion for everything.
actualy been thinking that i maby have done a dumb thing ordering a PE delica insted of an CE..the CE on the Goddard has been quite usefull for harder cuting tasks, oh well, i guess ile have to order some more spydies after a short while ( droling on a SE cricket and civilian )

****, love to be bitten by the spyder!

and to you all hailing from norway, if u havent been to norway, take the trip!
only bad thing is its quite expensive compared to other countries, like the US.
i have to pay an 25% import fee on anything over 30$
but its worth it when the only webshop/shop i know of only have old storage spydies, instead of the new ones.

and again, thanks all!

That could actually be a good thing. If they have any of the older discontinued Spyders that are in high demand, you could be sitting on a gold mine ;)

there are quite a few spydercos to look for, the collaboration with knifemakers (Lum, Schempp, Terzuola, Walker...), the sprint/limited runs (Carbon Fibers spydercos), early models (SKU number under 50)

Welcome to the forum.
Alexandre.
