Alligator Bali

#1

Post by smcfalls13 »

I picked this one up earlier this week from Robert Hankins, and it's a beast of a knife. 3/16" O-1 blade with some crazy texturing/etching on it. Solid SS handles with Turquoise Canvas Micarta overlays. PB washers, and no latch. This thing is big, heavy, and near indetructible.

This sucker makes other SS Balis feel like Titanium, but even with all that weight it still flips very well. Once it gains momentum, it has a life all it's own, I just do what it tells me to. :p

I tried to get some pics of the texture on the blade, but it's pretty difficult to photograph, hopefully you all can see it in the pictures.

Here's a pic from the maker, because my pictures don't show the blade as well as I'd like.

And here's a comparison shot to show just how big this Bali is. Szabofly on the left, Roton Monarch on the right, and the Alligator in the middle.

Enjoy.

Saw it on BF. I LOVE the blade shape and the finish, in my opinion it looks as close to an alligator as you can get.

That's just sick!!! It look's pretty thick, though. Does the thickness aid when flipping, or does it not make much of a difference?

I have never been a big balisong fan, in fact I don't even own one.

But that knife is just awesome, I love the scale effect on the blade!

I saw that on BF too. I love the handles!

That looks like one heavy balisong. Do you know how much it weighs? I have a custom one that weighs almost a pound; it gets kind of scary to flip ;)

To paraphrase a joke from some comedian whose name I can't remember:

This thing flips like a Diesel engine, takes a while to get it started, but once it's started it goes all night long.

It's got so much weight that it literally flips itself, I don't flip it, I just steer. ;)

Also, the extra thickness in the handles fills the hand much better, so it's more comfortable to actually cut with. Even without the latch, it feels like a fixed blade when it's open.

Manifest, I don't have a scale to weigh it, but it's much heavier than a 42, heavier than a Spyderfly, and marginally heavier than a Roton.

I'm guessing 8-9 oz.

Nah, no need to be jealous Doc, I might have the monster Bali, but I guarantee you could make it dance better than I
