I'm not so sure about the texture either. The blade shape looks very nice and I pre-ordered it based on that, but after seeing more pictures of the texture I'm not so sure myself... especially since I'm so happy with other recent purchases. Basically the plan is to take a look in person and if it's OK I'll keep it and if it's not there's always eBay.

I don't like how it says Jess Horn all over the FRN handle as the texture.

I like the knife and the color just not the texture. ;)

It's like I can handle having the name Spyderco and a model name on a knife. I just can't handle having someone elses name like 300 times on the handle.

That's like buying an Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer. I don't want Eddie Bauer's name on the seat.

I'm with you David!

The actual knife is sweet, but the lettering really turns me off. I'm not big on lettering at all, even on the blade. I'm surprised I'm doing so well with my Yojimbo (nothing against Michael Janich at all), since I usually can't stand billboards on my blades. :p

Maybe it was more geared as a collectors piece, but IMO, it's kinda tacky.

I love the Jess Horn, but the name all over the handle is what's holding me back.

My "ideal" Jess Horn would have a full flat ground blade damasteel without the swedge grind, dual liners, front bolsters, jigged bone or white bone scales, no Boye dent, no clip and no provision for mounting one. The C38 was, IMHO, the least attractive and least lefty friendly of the Spyderco Horns, but since I have all the others, the new ZDP/ FRN one was a "necessity" for my collection. Then again, I may still send one out to STR for the Mi-Ti treatment. :D

The Jess Horn was my first Spydie about 6-7 years ago and it is still a favorite. It is the ONLY knife that had the perfect thumbhole-to-pivot-arc/opening-distance. I moved on to bigger and better things as the JH was a little too light for my daily uses. (I made it all the way up to Millie and and back down to a SS Endura now, which is as close to perfect as any have come.) I am not overly fond of the handle texturing either, but it is an incredible knife. I'd still like to get one for sentimental sake............

unless you look closely you can't tell it says Jess Horn. it just looks checkered. Its really light and thin and it cuts really well.

I have one arriving tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Ironically I found it online at http://www.knifeworks.com last Sunday. Meanwhile the pre-order I did on the Delica about 8 months ago at another retailer has yet to arrive.

Go figure.

I am still undecided....... I have two of the new Horns back home in the safe and have not had much time to carry or mess with them as of yet... I do however like the slim style and the burgundy FRN is appealing to me also... I really don't need to mention the ZDP :D But for the Horn all over the handle.... Votes are not in yet in my book........ Reckon it will grow on me........

I got my Jess Horn yesterday and love it. My favorite Spyderco of all time was the original JH that I lost on a trip and I've waited patiently for a new run. The steel and handle color is just icing on the cake. I wish they would reintroduce it as a standard model; to me it is the perfect size, weight, and blade for EDC. Elegant, too.

Mine arrived as well today. Reading some of the prior threads, and never having seen any Jess Horns prior, I was a bit apprehensive.

This knife fits me perfectly as I really like smaller Gents type knives. If this baby had a black micarta handle, it might just be the nicest knife I own. Out of the box, it reminded me of the ZDP Caly's of a year ago in that it is incredibly sharp.

I'm still awaiting my Delica that I preordered forever ago, but I think that ultimately I'll like this Jess Horn better, probably because of the blade profile and its sleek look.

Though I'm not a big fan of FRN, I think that this knife is well done and I certainly don't find the "Jess Horn" labeling to be obtrusive at all.
