Endura 4, tip up or down?

#1

Post by shootist16 »

Now that we have an option on the Endura, which do you prefer? Tip up or tip down? Why or why not?

I keep my tip down(no comments, thank you  ) for the simple reason I am too lazy to switch.
BUT remember in this decision, it is a question of taste, not morality!! ;)

Tip up always for me :) , especially in FRN models, ;) it is all down to personal preference. I prefer not to have the back of my hand and fingers scrapped up by the back of the blade hole/thumb serrations getting the knife out of the pocket, as I've experienced with tip down  .

Aloha shootist16,

It really doesn't matter at this point in my knife-life...however, IF I HAD to choose:

Tip Up all the way. Simply because *I* find it more natural to draw and open my knives when carried in this manner. ;)

God bless

Well, tip up, down, left or right is fine with me. I even carry the linerlocks (which they say are generally made for righties) on the left side without feeling the need of changing anything in terms of carry style.
But right now I carry my EDC set for tip down, right IWB.

Tip down...I got so accumstomed to my Millie being tip down that when I got my Endura 4 I automatically set it up the same way. I like being able to reach into the top of my pocket, "pinch" the hole with my thumb and index finger, draw the knife out and Spyder-drop it open with relative ease and quickness.

Tip up, too much dust and junk gets in the exposed pivot tip down.

I used to feel tip up was the only way and it is still my preferred way, but either way works for me also.

I only go tip up when that is the only option available. I can tell you from first hand experience, it is possible for other things in my pockets to snag holes (or studs) and open knives in my pockets. This is similar to having a pocket full of hornets, but with less warning and more blood. It happens a LOT less when the opener is at the top of my pocket instead of the bottom.

I carry mine tip down.

I started with a delica 3 and I thought tip up was great, it felt natural, this was my first clipit pocket knife. Then I bought a Military and that's all I carried. I bought an endura 4 and switched it to tip down immediatly. I bought a grey waved endura, but I don't want to use it, I tried the wave out and it was awesome, I'll have to wait until they start coming out with the "normal" batch then I'll try it out for edc.

:spyder: I have tip down knives but given a choice I prefer tip up, mostly because that's how I train. :spyder:

I prefer tip up carry. It is just a personal preference for me.

Tip- Down for me, it just feels natural after carrying the Para, Caly Jr., and Cento 4 for so long :) . Tip up feels kinda funny to me now  .

But I do carry tip-up models when I have no other option, and because I like the knife.

My tip-up rotation would be- ATR, Dodo, and Native.

I'm OK with either option (as long as the knife is fully serrated :D :D )

However, after carrying and using my D3/SE and E3/SE, I have a very slight preferation for tip up. Just makes it easier to deploy one handed.
