Fraternal Twin Kiwis...

#1

Post by The Deacon »

...these guys arrived today from Santa Fe Stoneworks. I call them fraternal twins because the one is mammoth ivory, and the other mammoth tooth. Bill Wirtel and his crew did an excellent job, as always.

That's wicked looking, where do you get the ideas for Kiwi handle materials, you seem to come up with some cool stuff that I always seem to overlook :p

Congratulations! You've got some awesome Kiwis! Would you consider customizing Kopas? I know, you do not like the way they have their clip mounted, but still...

If Sal decides to go through with a LH Kopa, and the scale material he elects to use on it is something that can be removed as easily as the jigged bone on the Kiwis, I will probably have a couple of them done up. I have a nice pair of stag scales that would look great on one, and another pair of mammoth ivory similar to the ones on the Kiwi above. I can't see doing it to a RH one, as I would never carry it, and with the lone exception of my Petoskey Stone one (which I had made for sentimental reasons, knowing full well it is really too soft for knife scales), all my Kiwis get carried. And if he ever decides to do a run of Kopas without clips, I may go broke. :o :D
