S30V vs. VG-10 Poll.
Inspired by Durbin's thread, "S30V vs. VG-10 ."
Which would you prefer?
S30V, for me.

I think that those two knives (Chinook & Military) are prime examples of how good :spyder: 's S30V is, apollo!

:D thads richt
but i think thad more spydie's have to be made in s30v :o
because not only the steel is better :o
but this is my personal opinion thad spydie's made in colorado are better then the spydie's made in seki city :o dont schoot me but thad's my opinion :D
and - my wanted list is al colorado made spydie's the dodo the manix :D me like tanks :D and the titanium atr :D
I like both steels. Voted VG-10 because I mostly EDC knives with that steel. (Delica 4 SS or Caly)
Mini Manix is my favorite Spyderco (until Caly 3 arrives), but that is because of the design, not the steel. S30v holds great edge, but I'm a bit worried that it could chip - so I don't use it that hard.

I must obstain.
Both are premium steels with excellent track records. Both do beautifully in SE, but plain edge use is a bit more steel specific. I like to do hair-popping razor edges on S30V, but toothy utility edges take (and hold) very well with VG10.
Thus, VG10 is an excellent choice for shorter PE blades like that of the Poliwog, Spin, and the Lava because that toothy edge gets a LOT of big work done with drawing cuts in a very short blade.
And S30V was a great choice for the Military, Chinook II, Manix, and the Native (nice having a VG10 option via the Native III too!) for those hot-knife-through-butter pushing cuts and macho shaving demonstrations :p
Either way, there's no wrong way to go between the two.

i havn't used any of my S30V knives enough to know what the steel is like but my VG-10 SE Harpy held up very well over the years. it's dull now (need to get send it in for all sorts of serviceing) but still cuts through most things better than alot of the kitchen knives i have.

I voted VG 10 for:
- superior rust resistance
- ease of sharpening
- and last, but absolutely no least, the way more aggressive pointier serrations :o :D
