New here, and I'm Thoroughly Impressed!

Post by Apeman »

Well since I first set my eyes on the new forum knife for this year I decided that I should become a member, so that I can get one! I have been roaming around the Spyderco forum for the past 2 weeks, and have been so impressed by the fact that Sal, and so many other Spyderco employee's take their time to post and give insight and discernment to many problems. Thanks allot all you guys, you make this forum extremely friendly, and yes very addictive!

I officially started my knife collecting career 2 years ago with my purchase of a CRKT M-18 Black nitride coated (Also my dad kind of help, since his knife collecting career started then as well). I was very impressed with the M-18 and CRKT and decided to buy two more CRKT's the Viele Wasp, and the Van Hoy. But sadly I think that there knife making quality has gone down hill :( , but I will always remember CRKT as the knife company that got me started, and has made me a knife collector.

But then very early this year my Dad came home from work and dropped a Spyderco Scorpius into my hands, and I have never looked at another knife making company's catalogue since. I had never seen such a well made knife in my life, and I instantly fell in love with Spyderco's stainless steel handles, the Spyderco hole, and Spyderco's vicious serrations. Since then my Dad and I have bought 8 other Spyderco knife designs, and also purchased Spyderco's amazing knife Sharpening system(2 actually), and we have not been let down yet, and will probably never be let down. Like I said I'm so impressed with Spyderco, that when I have the money I will be getting this year’s forum knife!

Personally I have my Scorpius in my right pocket, and my SpyderCard in my wallet. :)

Also thanks to Spyderco my knife knowledge has greatly increased, in area's like blade steel, lock mechanisms, and the over all history of the knife. I being in the process of becoming a mechanical engineer am greatly intrigued by the designs and knives that Spyderco will release in the future!

Thanks again Spyderco, for being in my point of view the best knife making company out there!

Sincerely,
Andrew

Welcome Andrew.... You will enjoy it here.... As redhawk said... Hang on to your wallet.... You know you will have it bad when ya start dreaming about Spydies or dreaming about your Bro's on this forum....

For some reason I have had several dreams about Chad (daywalker) over the last several months.... I wake up praying for him and all the other CO's, Police officers and EMT that are part of this family.... What they do day in and day out is truly amazing.... My hat is tipped to them...
Easer to ask for forgiveness than permission…. :p

Thanks all!

Yeah I can see that after this summer I will probably have 3-4 more Spyderco knives added to my collection that I already have(well I hope to have more :D ). So yes I will keep an eye on my wallet, or try to ;)

Oh yeah my Spyderco collection is small for now... but it includes the Scorpius, the meerkat, and the SpyderCard. My next :spyder: will be the 2006 forum knife, the Lava... drules, mmmmmmmm... and yes I have allready started dreaming about knives, there the best dreams.

Yeah my Dad is allready a posting member on this site, but he enjoys reading all the posts, insted of posting himself, don't worrie I'll make him post sooner or later. Hes actually up at a Men's retreat with some of the other men in the church,(I got left behind because I need to study for finals) and he took 4 Spyderco knives with him. He took the Para-Military, an ATR, the meerkat, and the Adventura... actually I think that he also may have taken up his stainless steel native, or it could have been his H-1 Salt... not sure about that.

Anyways have a good one guys,

Sincerely,
Andrew

Wilkommen...I mean Welcome.

I've had quite a few samples of the knife brands currently in production out there in my pockets, and I always came back to :spyder: . And that was before I was on the forums. Great products, great people, and the forums makes it all the better.

Have fun and study hard (man I can't wait for school to start back up for me).

Welcome to the forums Andrew. Congrats on your new found passion, and good luck on the finals.

I also have a CRKT M-18, althoug mine is just a regular small one with the red G-10. Those black-bladed ones did have my eye untill I discovered the bug. Always thought it a shame that design didn't take off. I liked those G-10 inlays.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.
