What I think of it would have a lot to do with whether or not the maker had a license from Spyderco to use the round hole opener.

It's...interesting.... :o

Who's the maker? Materials? Steel? Etc?

Can't make a judgement until we know more details :p

Steve Ryan.

I am also curious to know if he has permission or liscense.
The link above doesn't make any mention of Spyderco, so it does sound dubious.

he has been using the hole on almost all his knives lately. I am curious if he is using with permission too.

So it's a Spyderized Sebenza.

I'll keep my mouth shut on this one... ;)

The opening hole is a concern as well as, first off, the blade shape reminded me of an ATR.

Did someone ont long ago post a hypothetical, photoshop image of a Spydie/Sebbie collaboration? Does Ryan frequent this forum? Got to be careful, I might just be running away with the accusations......................... :o ;) !!!!

Is that knife big, or is the hole small ? It seems out of proportion.
Very nice anyway, it's a shame if it's without permission.

Then again, even assuming the hole is licenesed, $1400  for what is in essesence a very utilitarian (quality materials, but nothing fancy and truly expensive), low parts count piece would be enough to stop me even if I liked the design.

Hey good point. Looks like the "flipper on the other side is used for opening. Much like a CRKT M16. Then his logo looks like radioactive symbols I've seen in either Sci Fi or Heavy Metal I forget which. So I wonder is anything about this design original?

Aloha ALL,

Hmmmm, I dunno if this one is licensed, it looks too, er, "different"...it is interesting though. It opens via flipper or Trademarked RoundHole, eh? That thumbstud thing is just a bladestop IMHO. Trippy...front end looks like one of my old designs. LOL!!!

Doesn't this guy have a collab with CRKT?

God bless guys!

It's the symbol for biohazard, not radioactivity. ]http://www.osha.gov/needlesticks/biohazard-sample2.jpg[/IMG]

Peeps this looks nothing like a ATR, sorry. Nor is this a knife a rip off of any other Spyderco or designer. Ruan is one of the few who is very original is his designs. Ryan is one of the hottest most desired custom makers on the scene today. This is a full custom made knife and $1400 is what the secondary market is for his pieces. Like it or not it is quite an original design and a very kick *** knife. I am just not a fan of chisel grinds.
