Delica4, what the heck!

#1

Post by gull wing »

I saw last couple of weeks people were getting Delicas off Ebay. Now, I still don't see any available from the internet stores. If the seller on Ebay can get them, should not the others get them also?
What the heck, where are the Delica4's?

Good question! They have seemed to just evaporated into thin air. I'm sure dealers will get them soon. Did the numbered collectors pieces come out? I don't recall anyone saying so.

The folks who bought them on Ebay (myself included), did buy them from dealers . They just happen to sell on Ebay also. The dealer I worked with, is one who always seems to have new knives fast and first. Why, I have no clue. I am sure someone on the inside knows.

In some cases, when a hot knife comes out, I have noticed that some dealers don't list it. What happens is, regular customers call in and ask, and they get sold. So why go to the trouble to post it on your website, then have to list it as backordered... Sort of a waste of bandwith.

That said, I have wondered why so many "don't" have it.

Some dealers get them earlier than others. This time, Sawyers got them first ;)

NGK got the Tasmans first. ;)

I've been wondering about this too. I'm thinking that dealers already have a stock of Delicas and Enduras and are waiting to sell those before they start selling the new versions.

That sounds pretty logical.

i agree that this would be logical, but what about the Swick? is this knife going to be a limited run? i read the posts and get that indication. i really can't afford to jump on every knife that i fancy on the first first week it's released. it certainly seems that the Delica 4, and the Swick, and even the Remote Release have gotten off to a slow start.

Yes, be patient, and if everyone is waiting for the 4's to come out, then the sellers will never run out of the 3's. Woe is me!

Hey All, I got my Delica 4 from Sawyer's/ebay also. I believe it was the last one. Sorry Everybody :o . I did wait to see if anyone was quick to snag it up. But, nobody grabbed it, so I ordered it. I was actually waiting to get the Delica 4 in PE, and figured I'd get it later when they all came out. My thought was that I wasn't to concerned, because the Delica and Endura 4's would be out pretty much in all the stores by now and in full force. I haven't seen them anywhere since ebay. Every now and then I see the Endura 4 on Ebay, but no Delica 4 yet. There are other sites that say they are available, but only as a "Pre-Order" item. I have no Idea What Gives  . It Won't be long, before we see them everywhere. Again, "I Apologize Everyone" for grabbing that last one  . Hope I didn't make anyone to upset :o , that wasn't my intentions.

God Bless :)

I think we are in a unique position as Spyderco regulars. The Delica and Endura are Spyderco's most popular models with the general public. I'm sure most people who buy these two models have no idea that a new version is out. So the dealers should be able to phase out the old model delicas and enduras with little trouble.

I'm sure in a few weeks we'll see them all over the place. I think a lot depends on how much business each dealer does in Spyderco knives and these two models. I don't think they'll order new Delicas and Enduras if the old ones weren't selling to begin with.

Yes, the Swick is a limited run so if you want one get one while you can. I believe something like 450 pieces were made.

The delica 4 and remote release are part of the Spyderco line so there's not really a big rush to grab them up. The Delica will be around forever and even if the remote release sells poorly it'll still be around until at least next year.

New Graham has the remote release and the swick, by the way.

I think that's exactly what they're doing. Sal and TK said the D4/E4s would be shipping as dealers sell the previous models, so once they sell out, they'll get the new ones.

Which probably explains why Sawyers got them first. They sell A LOT of knives(because of their prices), and probably went through their stock much faster than other dealers.

If you call right now, you can take a chance on getting a D4 from New Graham Knives. I ordered a stainless, plain edge D4 this morning from Tom and have already been notified it has shipped. Tom said they had at least one of each style in stock right now, with more expected in very soon. Give him a call and see if he has what you want. I like dealing with New Graham. Great service and the bandaids they send with each order make for great advertising. ;)

Ordered my D4 two weeks ago (e-bay) and have been sitting in my pocket for a week now. I forgot who I bought it from but I remember they had several for sale. :)
