got my first spyderco-inflicted wound today
got overconfident closing my native with one hand, wasn't concentrating on it, and whoops, sliced right through the skin at the tip of my middle finger. that'll teach me to do that at work!
(nothing serious- just enough to affect my typing for a day or so)
so proud

Congrats, you've now been bitten. Only one solution to that: buy another one, and teach your native not to bite by locking it away.
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

I keep thinking that my Spydercos like just a taste of blood, to remind their owners what they're for -- cutting. Haven't had any major cuts, but practically every one of my has at least nicked me once. Yesterday, it was the Dyad. Hadn't played with it for a week, and zip! right in my left palm. Never did figure out exactly how I did it. I think I was checking for ricassos that would protect the finger in case of lock failure.

Ahh, the occasional cut. Such an annoyance, and yet, such a ringing testament to the purpose of these knives. Thomas Jefferson said the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of the patriot, and I think Spydies are fed with the blood of their devoted fans.
I stopped seeing cuts as wounds when I started teaching knife safety classes. There's nothing like showing a scar to drive a safety warning home!
The knife is sort of like a half-tame wolf. It will serve you proudly and well for years, but sometimes forgets its manners and takes a nip out of you.
Feel glad that it was not serious, and consider your lesson learned and your Spydie fed.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
