Spyderco Kumo FB11P. Pictures.

I just got home from work to find my new Kumo at my door step. My friday night has started well. :)

I am not really into fixed blades... If I can't fit it in my pocket, what's the fun? . But I have to admit, this little Kumo is put together very well. Feather lite and perfect sized.

Here is a couple quick pics.. I added the Calypso Jr. in there so you can compare the size.

Yes, I know... I have fingernails... Need them for work.. :) You'll understand more when you look down. ;)

Enjoy!

Aloha Rock,

(Recovering from first post)...

BTW, how sturdy is the wrap? Very nice piece indeed. The resin on the lace looks thick! Hmmmmm, has my CRKT First Strike met it's match? :p

God bless you knifeBro...I'm off to ****. :(

Chad,

The wrap is VERY sturdy.. I was actually very surprised. Almost feels like it's melted on there... Best way I can explain..

Be safe! :)

Mahalo Rock,

One more PITA request from me please. How about a shot from the top view showing the "zigzag effect" of the wrap? Can ya do the shot next to the ZDP Caly' Jr. to get an idea of handle thickness?

Thanks and God bless KnifeBro

Kumo questions...

1) Is this knife appropriate for use in the kitchen? Does it look like the handle would survive using it every day for food prep? (Ending with a daily washdown in hot water and dish soap?)

2) How much does the sheath weigh?

While I'm at at it, does anyone have pics comparing it to the Bill Moran knives?

How much does the sheath on the Moran knives weigh?

Anyone have pics comparing the two sheaths?

Hi Chad,

Mine came in yesterday and I've also recently owned a CRKT First Strike. The main difference is in the feel and mass of the knife. The Spyderco is like a feather compared to the CRKT and definitely has less mass / heft. Wondersteel in the Spydie vs ?? (I've honestly forgotten) the CRKT steel. The Spydie sheath is also mucho superior to the CRKT offering. I never even tried to carry the CRKT with the factory sheath.

Of course, there is a slight minor difference in price ... :D I'm remembering that it took awhile to sell my LNIB First Strike at $35.

Thanks Rock. That's another add on (to my growing longer each day list). Looks like it would make a nice boot knife and I'm pretty excited the way they did the cord wrap.

Very nice pics Rock, thanks for sharing

Stevie: I looked it up in a CRKT brochure and the Corkum First Strike is made of AUS6M steel in satin finish.. I like the Kumo way better ;)

Rock

Nice pictures!

I just received my Kumo from New Graham Knives today. It is a really nice piece - modern materials with classical design features. As you mentioned, it's very light.

The handle wrap allows for a firm grip in a variety of positions, especially when combined with the subtle finger grooves. It does seems very sturdy. The only downside is that the wrapping could have been more even on mine, but I'm sure that will vary from knife to knife.

That's such a beautiful knife, thanks for posting pics of it. Just ordered mine yesterday from bestknives (not too bad on the P&P to the UK, worked out at $150 total). Should hopefully be here sometime this week. This is the first fixed blade spydie I've ever felt compelled to buy (allways gone with SOG before). Hopefully it will be the first of many. :)

I got mine last week too. Too damned cool. I would have preferred a more traditional natural material sheath but I guess I could get one made. Ideas anyone?
