best movie of (the past month of) your life...

#1

Post by psimonl »

Hello,

You know the question.... Not of all your life, but just a movie you rented or saw in the past month and, to quote UK Ken, brought a smile to your face...

Mines were:
Sin City (I was a very HUGE fan of the Sin City chronicles in their comic forms...) and last week, I rented The Machinist... Totally blew me away. It was like a new Hitchcock that I never saw... Great entertainment...

How about you...

Simon

P.s.: Ok, I juste want to know what to rent next, as I have been disapointed more than I should have to... ;)

Dear Simon,

I loved this film! Great effects, great storyline.

I have the movie poster hanging in my family room. A bit creepy perhaps, but very cool.

Ong Bak the Thai Warroir

Best action film i have ever seen. The fact that he does all his own stunts and there are no wires makes it all the more enjoyable. The plot wasnt that great, but its an action film, but what it lacks in plot, it makes up for in intense action. Great film.

Sin City was definately enjoyable. I loved the Mickey Rourke story.
I never did get to read the comics, but the movie's tempted me to go find some.

Of the best movies i've seen lately, I'd say Serenity is definately the best. I don't get to the theatres much, they're too pricey for what you get in my opinion. But I've already seen Serenity twice and am planning on going at least 1 more time before it leaves the big screen.

I haven't rented many new dvds lately, but I watched Equilibrium again the other day. It is a terrific film in my opinion that got almost no press and went quickly to dvd. Most people I talk to have never heard of it. It is a great action flick though, with Christian Bale and Sean Bean. Futeristic type film with a Fahrenheit 451 kick and good acting. Definately worth renting!

Aloha psimonl!

Yeah okay...within the past MONTH, correct? I'd have to say the 1936 (?) version of the movie "Wuthering Heights". :D :o

I have yet to see Sin City, but I can say that Constantine was pretty freaky, and Ong Bak Thai Warrior was incredible! Try watching Azumi if you can find that, samurai flick.

God bless

so far it's nothing but good stuff y'all mentionned

Sin City is Da Bomb, for sure!
Ong Bak, was certainly a non-stop intense action flick. Loved it!
Haven't seen Constantine yet but I'm looking forward to it now

as for me, it would be Sling Blade, which I had not seen until a few days ago. Amazing stuff!!

The movie "Hero", with Jet Li. Great plot with superior MA scenes.

Hmmm I posted earlier but it did not show up

Again:

Sin City...great movie and very well done.
Zatoichi the Blind Samurai(new version) AMAZING such a good movie...best I have seen in a long time.
The Muppet Show(season 1) all the episodes are great...took me back when I watched them as a kid. Now I know who the people/hosts are :) Jim Henson was a genius. Lucas really likes em too :D

Another vote for Sin City. I re-watched What the "Bleep" Do We Know, and was blown away again :D . For those who havn't seen it, I'll just say that a bunch of physicists pretty much tell us to throw everything we've been taught out the window. Explains addiction in a really cool way (animation).
Lots more then I could process the 1st time :o (note: half way through watching the rental I went to wallyworld to buy this; I never do that)

I agree about Sin City. The last two that I watched that I enjoyed were"Tape" and "Mind Hunters".

No it's not spelled wrong. That's the way they spelled in the movie. . I always did like SPOOK flicks. But Stephen King really outdid himself with the screening of Pet Semetary. That movie really stayed with me for while  . JD likes PET

If you like horror flicks, you should check out "Cabin Fever". Alot of gore and some funny moments. Also, "House of 1000 Corpses" was a good flick... I like Rob Zombie as an artist.. Movie and music. :)

Easy, Lord of War with Nicholas Cage. Same type of storytelling as Goodfellas, just as good.
