C104 - Persian 75mm (Edited for Correction) 2 Pics Now!

#1

Post by TazKristi »

Ok, it was the begging that did it this time... but same deal... no specs, MSRP, release date, etc. for now. More to come later. I can say this, it will be in our '06 catalog.

Enjoy!

Kristi

Little mix-up. So, now you get to see the Kris (C105) and the 75mm Persian... CD was labeled wrong and I was in hurry and didn't even notice the pic was backwards.

That is just wicked looking!

Lefty or not, I'll have that one for sure. That's awesome looking. It will be a nightmare to sharpen though ;)

Thanks for the preview Kristi :D

Wow, I have to just be honest and say I don't like the blade. I like the rest of the knife though :)

That is one fantastic looking knife, am definitely looking forward to it, but think it's the Kris, not the small Persian. And you have to get whoever is doing the photoshop work to stop "flopping" the closed shots. Seeing the clip on the proper side gives us southpaws false hope. ;) :D

I really like the idea of a smaller persian, but the blade needs to be the same shape as the full sized version. The working end kinda looks like one of those "Fantasy" knives you see on ebay. No offense meant, but it doesn't seem to suit the handle.

Very interesting design! Sharpening it would be a challenge!

Thanks for posting the images Kristi.

The knife Kristi showed us is Ed Schempp's interpretation of the Kris as a folder. Think the 75mm Persian will look more (although obviously not exactly) like the prototype in this picture. :D

Blade is the same damascus used on the bolsters of the 25th Anniversary Delica, only "twisted and cored". The handle is starburst nickel iron damascus in a flower filigree pattern.

According to Ed, there will be some difference in the handle of the production model, to better accomodate a full 4 finger grip. But it at least gives an idea of relative size and proportion.

I wonder if this picture was intentional or not. Haha, we open up the thread expecting to see something that we kind of recognize and BAM Kris'ed in the face.

Either way, if this was a picture error I don't think anyone's complaining ;)

What can I say about this model? What an innovative design for a production company to pursue! I'm sure it was quite a challenge to produce. I hope it sees production.

That said, where's the choil? But I'm a choil freak and think almost any knife can benefit from one.

It'd be nice to see a different micarta color for the handle. A different color mic in the handle of the smaller persian and the kris would be great. It would help to distinguish the models more, considering that they all share the same basic handle design.

Spyderco never ceases to amaze me and add to the respect I already have for the company.

Oh yeah, one more thing. THANKS KRISTI

I lied, two more things.

It's a shame to see new models coming out that don't offer at least one left hand carry option. I think at this point in time every model should be based around both users.

I can understand not going with a four way clip on this model, since the design idea is based a lot of visual appeal, but I don't think adding a couple of holes on the other side of the knife would do much to the flow.
