Review request, police tie clip tc07?

#1

Post by vampyrewolf »

Anyone have one of these?

Thinking of buying one while I can find it cheap, and because I need to buy a toy to get me through school(starting on the 6th).

1: How tightly does it hold on to your tie
2: What kind of reaction do you get from it
3: Actually using it
4: Maintanence(ats-34, ti, serrated SHOULD be easy enough to care for)

Thanks for any help.

Patrick, they have them on sale at Cutting Edge in Calgary...not sure if they have em at your Cutting Edge. Thought you might like the heads up. As for anything about them...not sure????

Sorry Pat, don't have one. Have fired off a couple half-hearted snipes for tie clip SpyderKeys, have yet to nail one of those. My one observation would be the obvious, that clips really only work well, and look good, with narrow ties. Since most of my modest tie collection are of the moderately wide variety, I prefer tacks, which of course would be very impractical on a working knife. :o

i had plenty of them (14) but I took off the clip it is easy to remove since it was glued on. take floss or string and pull under the clip and off it goes. the clip holds on tight but I wanted something to put in my wallet and around my neck. It was bigger than the necklae model and smaller than the ladybug. I got mine engraved also to give it away as a gift and a small hole also.

soft tip though but overall good knife to have as a backup when you looking to ut small boxes and maybe self defense( something is better than nothing). a little rust showed on blade but minor, sharp as ****, serrated (spydero awesome).

if I have a used one around I will give you one for free.

Hi Pat - I have two but I use only one as a tieclip. I like 'em as a gadget. They are however really usable little knives. During the times I wore it as a tieclip, it received some scratches. Not manny comments to it from the people around me. Wore it mainly on knife shows etc. Cannot combine it with my uniform (what a pitty).
So far I've never used it as a knife. To me it is just a gents furnishings item. :)
hope this helps, Jurphaas.

Craig: yep, Cutting Edge is walking distance from here. Wasted about 4-5hrs in there about 2 weeks back. reg 100cad on for 60cad, and they've been discon'd for a while. Wanted one for a while and won't find it cheap again(if I can find it at all next year).

Paul: 2" wide tie(at the bottom) and long enough to look good(think air cadet uniform tie :p )... tight little windsor on it, one of the 3 ties I aquired over 6.5yrs in cadets. Usual solution has been one of my many spydie pins. Cadets made me use either one of my aircraft pins or a canadian flag on it, but brass showed from across the room. At least the bug doesn't jump out.

Ceya: if I buy at my local this week I know I'll have it for school in 2 weeks... thats why I'm not even gonna bother looking online for one. How well did the clip hold on when you were NOT trying to remove it? If I have it under a jacket and it catches, will it go flying? thinking my use the next year will be boxes, envelopes and wires.

Jur: I toss on a tie when I want to clean up(as compared to jeans, black tshirt(only have about 30 of em), vest and hat. So this will be for the usual... coffee, events, gatherings, school, job hunting, and just for the **** of it[yes, I'll clean myself up for no reason at all, I'm odd]. As far as "gent's furnishing", the last time I tossed on a suit coat(ugh, fancy dinner... small servings and small talk with everyone) I topped it off with my round black/silver :spyder: pins as cufflinks and another one pinning my tie down. Just doesn't feel "right" to have it all loose[Blame cadets].
