I Think I Need To Get A Life

#1

Post by Hannibal Lecter »

Good day, all.

Immediately after awakening this morning, as usual, I checked out the forum to see if anything was transpiring. The local time? About 5:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight.

I am on the forums practically all day from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and again occasionally during the evenings.

Does anyone else find themselves on the forum more often than might be advisable for good mental health? :D

I'm not on the forum all the time. Occasionally I have to do other things like work, sleep, eat... Okay, maybe I do have a problem.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

In terms of time spent it could say that monitoring this forum is the primary use of my computer and Internet access. Strange to think about it but I probably spend an hour day on this forum.

Since I'm unemployed right now, I look at the forum during all of the day ( I have no other hobbies as such) Except when I have my son over. We are in my own home then most of the time and I have no computer over there.

My good Doctor,

I get to work at about 7:30am CST.. Usually check it every hour or so.. Then I get home, relax for a bit and check a couple more time before bed.

You are not alone my good friend. :D

You just had to bring that one up didn't you. :p I may be in even deeper denial than I thought. Doctor?

I check the forum (among other things, news, meteo, etc...) when I wake up every morning before leaving for work... then I have to wait to be back at home to check it again. Can't browse from work cause i'm not the network admin  :(

I'm on almost all the time when I'm at work, which one of these days is gonna get me in trouble. I've gotten really quick reflexes from closing windows when the boss is coming around the corner.

When I'm not at work, I'm not usually on as much, but I try to stop in once in a while as time permits.

Doctor- 0530! Did you sleep in? :D

As an old retired guy, I'm up at 0400 to feed my deer herd and other animals that live in my woods. Then it's off for my 9 mile bike ride (Ranger Ready). Then , and only then, do I log on and see what's on tap for the day. Mental health? How can people like us, who collect knives, be even remotely associated with mental health? :D

I've been here less than a month and I have 197 posts.

That should tell you that I have the same problem.

I am also and do the same. I even had to add Spyderco.com to our "allowed" sites on the firewall because it was blocked under "weapons".

Unfortunately, in the last weeks, I only had time to "ping" now and then the Forum from work, when I was taking a break (things are going crazy here, spending 12 to 16 hours a day at work will kill me eventually) :(

I am in the same situation as you Dr Lecter :P

I work as a mainframe operator (z/OS) so when everything is going good I have a lot of free time (which is always the case) :D

Out of a 12 hours shift I may have 9 hours of free time :P

If there are no new posts I spend some time on other fora or I have a look at the Ebay listings again.

Priorities>> after the Forum

Post by JD Spydo »

That's right the Forum takes a lot of priority in my daily life. I always do try to put down comments with substance in them but sometimes I do get on my eternal "soapbox". I just enjoy my hobby and the comradery of the great guys & gals of the Forum. Yes indeed Doctor I have considered starting a support group :D

As long as you are on the Spyderco Forum you have great mental health ;)
NOW if you go over to Benchmade, Busse or any other blade companies then we need to call in our "In House" thearapist Doctor Hannibal Lecter :D . I must warn you though: He does not tolerate "fence jumping">> Better take your Hawkbill to therapy with you  :spyder:
