What knife protects your life?

:spyder: Do you carry a dedicated blade for self protection? what type? I carry most of the m.b.c. knives (not all at once) but my spyderhawk(my JDSPYDOHAWK, named for the great american who brought me and my steely love together!) gets the most consistant carry. That and my Lil' T.
What keeps you safe in the street? :cool: :spyder:

I carry three for SD at the same time...Yojimbo, Ronin and ChinookII...That was easy...strategically place about my body for quick use :D Doc

never really had a protection problem, But my Military or para is always with me.

I switch between a Merlin SE and a 93 mm Rescue SE. They are very intimidating when drawn quick. There is somthing about the "click" that changes the minds of a would be attacker.

In my RF pocket is my re-serrated Endura, it would be the quickest to get to.
Of the other two, Native RR and Delica LF, I would choose the Native for SD.
When I pay off my Gunting, I'll have to learn how to use it; as "just a knife", I'd rather use my Native.
OT: How many here have bought the Gunting DVD/Video ($99.00)?

Actually, none! I think no one should carry a knife to protect himself. I don't mean it's not good but I think no one should carry and objet for self defence. That's it.

Due to a setback in getting a job, I have only managed to get an Endura and a Sharpmaker. I carry either the Endura or a 110 for defence. At night, I usualy carry a Large Buck 119 Special (6 inch blade) under my shirt.

I don't carry a knife for selfprotection. I haven't been in a real fight since elementary school. When I might get in a fight I hope I've remembered enough of my Judo(9 years) and Tae Kwon Do(2 years) lessons to get out safe.

I typically don't carry knives with self defense in mind. The only exception is the SPOT which I jog with and wear on vacation.

I don't carry a knife FOR protection either, but I hope to God that should I ever have to use my knife for a SHTF moment, I'll know how to use it! :p

I do admit however, that I used to carry "Just in case" knives in creepier parts of town...but that was prior to my learning more about bloodborne Pathogens! :eek: :eek: :eek:

The knife I have with me. Waved Endura at the moment. I do not carry a SD dedicated knife in the sense that I won't use it for anything else as I don't use my knives that hard and I like the 'training' of using them.
Although everybody should make up his mind for himself I would advise anyone who dismisses the use of a knife for SD to reconsider. Only if you would under no circumstances be willing to protect your loved ones or yourself from getting harmed, raped or killed by using your knife you don't have to think about using your knife in SD.
Multipele assailants, bicycle chains, steel nosed boots and whatever. It happens to ordinary people everyday. If you participated in recent or ongoing contests hoping to get lucky you should realise you could sometimes be unlucky as well.

None. It's too dangerous for myself. I don't know how to fight with a knife, and most street muggers do. So there would be more danger for me if I fight with a knife than without, because if my opponent gets hold of it...
But my Delica is always within reach and ATR if someone needs a bit more persuasion NOT to attack me :p .

You stand a better chance with than without a knife in your street mugger scenario. BTW he is not just after your money but he really fancies your wife/girlfriend too and unfortunately she has sprained her ankle and can't run.
Taking a knife away from someone is never easy and it takes a lot of training to be able to do it with any confidence at all. Don't buy into this myth and don't believe the Hollywood scenarios you see.
I don't advocate the use of a knife in SD if there are other options of course. Don't go there if possible. Get away if possible. Hand over your watch and wallet if you're inclined to. But if everything else fails and you're in fear of your life use whatever is available to save your life.

There is nothing immoral about carrying a knife ( or any weapon) for self defense. I carry 2 knives on me most of the time and sometimes 3. I mean no disrespect to my dear brothers who don't believe in carrying a knife for self defense but do think about this. You carry car insurance hoping that you never need it. You wear a seatbelt hoping you never need it. You have locks on your doors hoping that no one ever tries to violate your perimeter. It only makes good common sense to me to be prepared for any atrocity that may befall you.

I look at it this way. IF no one bothers me or tries to cause me any harm>> then they have absolutely nothing to fear from me at all. This "polically correct" garbage that it is somehow immoral to protect yourself is completely naive at best. If you are lulled into a false sense of security in this day and age then you are certainly a fool to one degree or another. I don't mean to be disrespectful>> Just thought provoking>>> IF I am wrong then tell me how :spyder:
