Question for "all variants" collector's club members

#1

Post by The Deacon »

A couple of the topics lately have me a bit curious about something. When the carbon fiber Police came out, were they all numbered with a V (as variants of the Police) or was one considered the foundation piece and numbered without the V suffix?

Hi Deacon,

I got both the SE and PE. Sold off the SE, but as I remember, both of these were numbered with a "V". Maybe Worker#9 will confirm or deny this when he's back from errands.

Understood fellas, but are any of these collector club numbered knives? IIRC, all the CF police were numbered, just like the CF Delicas. Mostly it's just that I find it a bit odd that the one I have, which is a LH PE, carries #038 with no V suffix and trying to get a better idea of the vagaries of, and a better understanding of the logic behind, the Spyderco numbering system.

Hi Deacon
I have 4 CF Police, all of which are numbered, the only one with a V is my LH FS model.

Only #000 through #200 are Collectors Club numbers. #201 through #600 (or whatever it may be) are not eligible for a V (AFAIK  )

nOOb questions! How do you join the "Collectors Club", how often do Collectors Club items come out and how much do they cost (relative to online pricing)?
TIA

IIRC you have to buy at least the first variation of every knife and you pay full MSRP (Spyderco website price).
Joyce might know better though... :)

You buy the primary variant of each new model. The price you pay depends on whatever deal you work out with whichever dealer you are going to receive the knives through. Spyderco does not send you the knives directly.

The other option, is to get all variants of every knife that comes out. This is a lot more expensive obviously.

Deacon,

When the CF Police came out, I was collector #200. (changed recently). All four are numbered with a "V". Hope that helps.

Rod, that helps tremendously! Makes it easier for me to understand why a LH PE one carries a low number without the suffix. Since all the CC knives where suffixed, they apparently just started the numbers for the "regular stock" at 1, with no suffix.
