More compression locks

#1

Post by ASmitty »

Lately I've become more and more fond of the compression lock. I'd really like to see more designs with this lock. I'd particularly like to see an FRN handled compression lock folder. Ideally I'd like to see the Delica and Endura updates include a conversion to this lock but that's not really feasible. But I'm thinking something in a Delica sized package (simply because there aren't a lot of knives in this size with the comp. lock and it's my favorite EDC size). I guess I just really love FRN as a handle material and I've grown quite fond of the comp. lock and I really really want to see the two merge.

After blade shape and handle ergos a compression lock is what I look for. Awesome locks!

No complaints about my Salsa's compression lock except that I think that it is backwards for a right hander.

I don't really understand the difference between a compression lock and a liner lock. Is it just a liner lock on the back?....or does it lock the blade up in a different fashion :) ?

A different fashion would be quite an understatement.

Take a look at this:

The “compression insert” is sandwiched between the “compression surface” and “anvil pin” when the lock is engaged.
