I'm very pleased with my new Delica. It was extremely sharp right out of the box. I got a Sharpmaker at the same time and decided to do the 4 steps at a 40 degree angle. Before I touched the new knife though I practiced on several kitchen knives. One quite dull knife took many more strokes than the 20 suggested by the video. The same was true for a pair of extremely dull scissors. Because of my experience on those I've ordered a pair of diamond hones for the Sharpmaker. I'm hoping that will make short work of sharpening really dull blades.

ok then.

1 tip with sharpmaker,

10 slow, straight and sterdy swipes are alot better than 30 fast ones. Take ur time and master it, This way you will get a really nice edge. i say this becosue sal does it extremly fast in the video,

Are you intending putting a 40 degree edge on your Delica? If so think again and start with 30 degrees. So far I have found that all my Spydercos have had a good 30 degree bevel that is worth keeping that way. You may already have thought of this it is just that your thread talks about going through the full steps - okay for kitchen knives but not needed for Spydercos.
