Spyder"THROW"?!?

#1

Post by DAYWALKER »

Aloha ALL!

For some reason today, right before going to "****", i recalled a thread about "The Best :spyder: For Throwing"...reached into my pocket, grabbed my Endura SE, opened her up...

No, I didn't throw her. I am guilty however of throwing my 1st gen. Dragonfly at the 3D Buck after hours when I used to work at The Sports Authority! :o A co-worker had a Gerber EZ Out Jr. and we'd go at it...Oh what a flinch when we heard "TANG", as that meant we missed, and had to go looking for our knives! LOL! :D

Back to today...the :spyder: logo stamped with the word "CLIPIT ENDURA" gave me an idea. So off to the 1/8" plastic sheet I went. After cutting out my "SPYDERTHROW" design, I tested it first from about...oh, 15-20ft. away, making sure I could stick it first before going any further on the details on it. I used an old bodyboard that my daughter used to swim with as the target. The pic is from an actual throw...I didn't just walk up to it and stick it in there... Took a few tries, but then I got it to stick pretty consistantly...must be in the blood! (Please refer to my thread about my history :p )

Did some filework during lockdown times at work, managed to finish it up enough to paint it when I got home from ****. Fortunately, this paint dried fast. Here it is...my SPYDERTHROW design, very...uh, quickly done mind you, so please be kind! LOL! Took cruddy pics of it in a powergrip and "flickergrip"...

Will test it out tomorrow on that bodyboard again. Have a :spyder: sword design from awhile back, and this would have been comparable to the Tsuba (Hand guard) I had in mind...

SO...whatcha all think? Be advised, I was around when Sho KOSUGI was in his prime so...this might be why I like these sort of things!

God bless, sorry for the cruddy pics, and mahalo for reading!

It's a regional thing. Been around before me and still going.

It's the supreme compliment, the folks from around here will know and I think you may have heard it used in "Good Will Hunting", Damon and Benifer are from Boston.

OK, now the lesson...repeat...WIC-KED PIS-SA

Chad

That is an excellent design! You have some serious talent there my friend :D

I would happily pay to have a few of these in my collection. A range of two or three different sizes/weights would be great! ;)

One of these days some of your superb designs are going to be snapped up by a forward thinking manufacturer and CLB designs will take off! Just remember us mere mortals when that day comes as is surely will ;)

Keep the ideas flowing!

Regards, Ken

Aloha ALL!

greencobra: Mahalo my friend! So long as it meant something good! Think I'll use tomorrow in **** and see what happens! LOL!

Piet.S: ONLY illegal as far as I know if you're gonna be carrying these about the town on your person! well, at least here anyhow. Mahalo for the kind words!

UK KEN: Always good to hear from you KnifeBrother! Too much kindness in your reply my friend... :o Yes, i think that in 3/16", various sizes possibly, a "butterfly" target (KIDDING) and it'd be fun! Er...have you checked your PM lately? BTW, if I do make it in this industry, it will be BECAUSE of people like you... ;) So God bless you brother...

Shaloha i.v!!! GREAT ideas there! 'specially the Bday Set w/balloon...that way, you can throw it at the balloon! :p Gosh, i was hoping no one would ask, but here's what I use to cut all my ProtoPlastics with...like I said, it ain't easy, and I think I need to get that "pen-like" attachment. Steering around this big sucker is like driving a bus in supermarket isles! Also, The Deacon warned me about powertools and plastics...I attached a pic of "what I use"...

God bless you guys

Aloha Woutersama!

No, I wish I took my time with it, but it was just for fun and to see what kind of reaction this "SpyderThrow" would get.

RE: Sho/Van Damme...was it something like Black Eagle or... OBTW, caught Star Trek last night where McCoy was FINALLY chosen over Kirk by some priestess who lived in an asteroid-ship thingy...ring a bell? :D

Too cool to pass up. Never was into throwing stars but that isn't just a throwing star!

Didn't catch your response about the pocket clip. lol
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

That is freaking awesome. I would buy 5 of those things. I used to have and be into throwing stars and I just love that one made out of the Spydero Spyder.

I just can't say enough times.......how cool that thing is. Wow! :D

Great job man.

Cheers,
David :)

Mahalo xibalba! Good to see you again! Yes, I remember you...how can I forget such a forum name? ]totally[/U] "overbuilt" Shuriken, to keep in the tradition of "designing in the dark"...but gosh...to cut out another :spyder: bug...yikes.

Anyway, thanks again guys, and God bless
