Welcome on the forum! We understand you perfectly here. You can't go wrong with spyderco.
The social revolution is now a fact. As I've discover, I'm a proteiform. The only question that remain unclear is; Who are you?

Welcome!
You pretty much have all bases covered with those three. One emergency knife with wicked serrations, one keychain spydie and one great slicing EDC. Great selection!

Let us know when you get to use it a little and what "6 years in the making" means!

Big guys!

#6

Post by JD Spydo »

Don't forget to add a couple of :spyder: 's big guys. I am refering to the Police and the Military. Or either one would give you some balance with what you have already started out with. Don't forget to get a :spyder: 204 Sharpmaker to keep those guys sharp and on their toes. As far as the addiction aspect of it goes. There is no known cure. It gets much worse. You will be trying to hide your habit from your family before too long. Ain't that great!!!!?????????? :D :spyder: :)

i recently bought 2 new spydies
as i have told you all - i lost my spyderco Q (actually and ex's friend stole it)
i finally found out what happened to my old q - and i replaced it - i have been hunting high and low for a newish Q and i finally found 3 in a gunshop about 3 kms from my house

(the old q that i lost got burnt when my ex got rid of all my stuff after i left - and it was the greyish handled model that had flat sides, not the glossy black sculpted model too)

i also found a FRN, Aus8 PE dragonfly with molded in clip

im really upset about what happened to my old q - but im happy i have one in my collection again - but its still not the same as having the one that i carried for a few years (yes im one of these people who form a bond with their edc tools and have a hard time replacing them)

I'm guessing it was about six years ago- i think when i was fourteen... I went on this outdoor education group thingy where we did a week of kayaking in the Golbourn river (i'm in Melbourne, Australia)- The only thing i remember about the camp is one totally cool knife that all the instructers had sheathed and lanyard'd in their vests... :spyder: ! lol~ I remember asking heaps of questions like...
"what the **** kinda knife is that?!..." and "can i have it?.. Please?!..."
Anywayz- i've always wanted one- i've had hordes of crappy rip offs and other various blades, lol... I thought well it's about time i got onto all that, so i looked it all up and here i am! :)

Just a quick (dumb) question, :p what does EDC stand for- i keep seeing it around, from the context i'm guessing something like 'every day carrier?' lol... but yeh? i couldn't find any words behind the acronym...

Thanks for your warm welcom too!

Nice little story. Thanks for sharing.
EDC stands for 'everyday carry', refering to the knife (knives if there's a rotation) that you like to have by your side at all time.

It's a cool place to be so stick around if you feel like it.
Say....is that a picture of you in the avatar?

Stockpile

#11

Post by JD Spydo »

Yes that's right I said stockpile. In the honored tradition of devout Spyderheads, The honorable Jimmy Dean ( who put his movie career on hold) and his excellency "Hannibal Lector" are among many distinguished Forumites that I am 1000% sure would concur with me that when you commit yourself to being a :spyder: aficionado that there are some things that are indeed expected of you. However I am sure that "Lux" is on the right path. Every Spyder person must have an arsenal. Well you are probably saying that refers to guns: Well let's don't stop short. A gun like a knife is a tool. But not as essential for life's daily demands as the knife is. You just can't be a journeyman in any endeavor with just one tool. You will use your knife more than you will a gun by a thousand fold. So it only makes sense to gain expertise in one of the most important tools in the history of civilization. My question is this: Do you want quality, reliability, and dependability. Then you have come to the right place ( Spyderland). I think a truly equiped, ready for anything, totally prepared person has to have a wide array of blades ( 1 dozen minimum) With every size, style and blade geometry. I rest my case. I will let the jurors of Spyderland be my critic. I believe in doing it right, don't you all? LONG LIVE THE GREAT :spyder: FACTORY! :spyder: :)

Yup~ me on the avatar... (isn't that what avatars are for? lol)
My girlfriend insists we're all nuts... Suggesting that JD Spydo's theory of keeping it from the family might already be an appropriate action! In regards to EDC... I am still in question to what the laws actually are down here in Victoria Australia- They've introduced new laws recently in attempt to tackle the problem of knived up kiddies- Unfortunatly this may mean that i'm not able to carry anything, lol... especially day to day- The fines and jail time are riddiculous even just for having anything on you... some blades- like balisongs are totally illegal altogether- (i have one in my drawer, lol)

Sooo the first thing i'm gona do when they arrive is march them down to the police station and say, what's the go... lol- Do i have a box cutter (i actually do cut boxes at work, loL) or do i have a weapon of $12,000 fines? lol~

Yeah I suppose that's what avatars are for but as you can see, it's not everyone who use them to show their mug. I'm just asking because ladies are in clear minority here so it's good to see one join the fun :)

JD has a good point here. Spyderco-lovers usually carry their knives and use them as tools...so even if you have many you can't really be called a collector...you become more of an accumulator...try not to worry too much about that, as resistance is futile. It's just too cool an addiction to fight it.
Keep us posted

Lux, welcome to the forums!

You certainly made some good choices. With that calypso you are automatically accepted as a 'genuine' Spyderholic! ;)
