Knife safty locks

#1

Post by J Smith »

I just formed the 47 Dads for safe Knives Assoc.
We are calling for all knife manufacturers to start includeing safty locks with all knives.Don't let another child get cut.
I..uh I mean we will take a pay off to keep from waveing our flag about this.

But really do any of you use these things.

It is funny.

I guess the goal is to have responsible gun (& knife ) owners.

Making a law to make people responsible is not as effective as teaching them to be responsible. But, teaching and learning must be in the same place at the same time. ;)

Lol, that's great! Gotta agree with Sal though, teaching people (especially at a young age) responsibility is more effective than any law ever will be. And not just with guns and knives, that carries over into so many aspects of life.

IMO it is dumb to make them include the locks. Most people that store a gun has it in a safe. The ones that are not locked up in something are in a place to be able to get to it for self defence. So the guns that it doesn't hurt to have a lock on are allready locked up and the ones that are not locked up can not have a lock in order to serve thier purpose.
Educate your kids about firearm safty(in most all the cases of kids shooting each other that I have heard about the child was not ever taught about firearms)when others children are going to be in your house make sure that they can not access the firearms.
This goes for anything that can be dangerous, education is the key to it all.

I'd like to see the proof of that statement, because I believe it's completely false. It's my belief that there are many, many more guns that are simply stored in drawers and under beds than there ever are in safes.

I can't give you all chapter and verse on this so you will just have to believe me. Or just not believe. Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America stated about a year ago that in 2001 there were more kids killed with household cleaning chemicals than there were kids killed with weapons of any type ( I do believe that he meant guns though). I would be willing to bet some serious money that there are far more people killed by these "CELL PHONE ADDICT" drivers in the last 2 years than there have been by guns or knives in the last 10. I guess there is no real scientific way to totally prove that last one but I think you all get my point. This all kind of reminds me of a book written by a famous college professor named Martin Gross. The book was entitled " The Death Of Common Sense". The only thing these new draconian laws do is make a nice revenue stream for lawyers ( who for the most part are destroying this wonderful country) :spyder:

I saw the title of the post and thought,"...a safety lock on a knife, what is it?" Then I saw the pix and laughed out loud. Thanks for the laugh as I really needed it. Those locks that come with all the guns end up in the drawer unused. My friends do not use them. They teach everyone about practicing gun safety. No one has been hurt by any of my friends guns (or knives). It's the safe handling of anything that makes the item safe. Locks and laws just don't work like being taught how to use something safely.

LOL and now you have to drill another hole in the knife for an in-case-of-emergency-while-safety's-on opening :)

I've heard of people locking their knives (especially :spyder: , because the hole) with cable locks in their luggage when they travel.
