Yes, it can be done. It's like sharpening two separate straight edges. I don't enjoy doing it though, it requires a lot of concentration to keep from rounding the point and the heel.

Of course. I have several tanto points and they are all sharpened on the SharpMaker. I don't sharpen then as two small blades, I do it in a single motion. I just do Sal's twist of the wrist he does on the video as he would do for a hunting knife. It works very well.
