Two (two) holes (holes) are better than one
(Woo hoo hoo)
It's double the knife babe
It's triple the fun
I said
Two (two) holes (holes) are better than one
(better than one)
It'll make you come undone
Two holes are better than one

Re: Can the Opening Hole be improved?
I feel like I’ve seen a lot of comments that spydercos smaller sized holes on some of their models aren’t very effective? I don’t really have an issue with them at all. Even on my g10 bolster manbug, that hole is one of the smallest I’ve experienced on a spyderco, but it’s still a large enough when I press my thumb against it, a good portion of meat on the pad of my thumb sinks in and has enough area of 360degree traction. I find not a lot of meat on my thumb needs to sink into the opening hole to provide enough purchase to move the blade open. Jus my 2c

For me how exposed the hole is affects ease of opening more.Tristan_david2001 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 10:32 amI feel like I’ve seen a lot of comments that spydercos smaller sized holes on some of their models aren’t very effective? I can open my Police or Military with a 100% success rate using a slow roll.
Sirens and Chiefs are about 98% successful opening.
Thumb stud lockbacks (e.g. voyagers) are about 96% successful opening for me. I noticed high polish studs are worse, so I've developed a habit of sanding thumb studs with 80 grit to enhance traction.
It's a very small difference, but on models with the hole slightly obscured like the Siren, I will fail to fully open it once in a while. Doesn't happen with a Pacific Salt.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

Completely agree, hole exposure is much more a factor for me then hole diameter.
Thats why I've never warmed up to the Native, despite liking the design very much.

Re: Can the Opening Hole be improved?
I really like the 14mm hole size, that are in some of our Spyderco knifes. I have enlarged a few of my Spyders that came with smaller holes and then even went so far as to flute the scales to give better access to the thumbhole to open the knife.
My new Siren was one I left the thumbhole alone but I had to flute the scales alot for my fat paw.
There was a couple, I did feel there was enough blade to cut the hole to 13.5mm size and then fluted the scales to access the thumbhole. They all have been great since doing the mods...

I saw your Siren with the modded handle. Looks great! If I ever get another I'll do the same thing to it.Jeb wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 8:07 pmI really like the 14mm hole size, that are in some of our Spyderco knifes. Thanks for the comments, little wet sanding with some really wore out sand paper lol, but that is after you make the fluted cut deeper with the rough stuff...
